It stinks!
Download: Painkiller: Resurrection Demo (1.3 GB)
"Developed by Homegrown Games with former developers and modders from the previous Painkiller games in collaboration with Studio Med-Art and with a Catholic priest advising, Painkiller Resurrection combines rock-hard, no-frills action and an exciting story with painstakingly researched details. In a bizarre world influenced by medieval ideas about hell and purgatory and Dante's Inferno, the mixture of fast, straightforward levels and enormous, explorable regions containing the worst scum of any hell provides a unique gaming experience."

How does it stink? I thought it was just the same old painkiller gameplay with a new lick of paint and coop gameplay thrown in for good measure?

It was underwhelming for me. I even had graphical issues, could be an Nvidia issue since my friends also experienced the same issues.
I was hoping for some new models too I guess. One of the awesome parts of PK was you never knew what kind of monsters would be attacking ext.
Its probably a little pricey for what it adds if you already own the game but anything with coop during the campaign on the PC I will have to support. There are far too few coop PC titles. So I'm really just excited for that feature alone.

The level design is atrocious, all the new content is awful, and the one liners still don't fit at all. It's pretty much the same problems Overdose had.

Does it have the original levels in the multiplayer coop though?

Yea, agree. I'm just hoping the final product is better. Here is video/screen cap of the strange issue I had.

Update 22.10.09: Taken from the jowood forums – We are very happy about the feedback concerning the demo but we are also sorry because we accidently released an old demo version. We really feel sorry for that. Next week we will release a demo version in the actual quality of the final game. So stay tuned and sorry for the inconvenience.
It played like a very, very early alpha. The graphics (what wasn't glitchy, which isn't much) were way behind anything approaching modern standards. Also they still haven't fixed some of the inherent problems with Painkiller.
Yet I see it's already available for pre-order. This doesn't look good... What is it with all the crappy Painkiller spin-offs lately?

Well, that explains that then.

I wonder how old it was; that would be interesting.

Comparing the screenshots to the demo, I'd say that must have been pretty damn old. We'll have to wait and see.
the game is out, and there's no coop... or better, there's a way to play it in coop but you need to mess around quite a bit
