I, the hudfreegamer, play my games without huds. For those who want to do the same, here is how you turn off your hud in Painkiller:

Open your config file: painkiller/bin/config.ini

Edit (or add if not present) the following values:

Cfg.hudsize = .00001

the game may change it to:

Cfg.hudsize = 1e-005

it still works though.

Technically, it doesn't disable the hud, it just makes it so small that it doesn't render.

I know, this thread is oooold, but... THANK YOU!

I removed the weapon and the crosshair as well for taking screenshots.

Cfg.CrosshairTrans = 0
Cfg.ViewWeaponModel = false
Have you generally considered posting to Steam guides and most importantly to PC Gaming Wiki?

I haven't. I just created my own wiki:
http://hudfreegaming.wikia.com/wiki/HudFreeGaming_Wiki

If someone wants to post those solutions to other sites, that's fine with me.

You should also edit PC Gaming Wiki articles http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Home - personally I prefer the website over Wikia. PCGW is currently the go-to website for PC gamers.
