I don't have the means to test it myself since i lack the access to port forwarding but anyone tried to see if multiplayer works on this version yet? Additionally anyone know of a good service to play it through like game ranger? I don't think game ranger supports outlaws yet.

Best part of this game in the day was the multiplayer, using the msn game lobbies to find and join games, dm and tdm all day long. Any one else looking forward to playing online as much as i am?

mp still kinda works, used to play... holy crap 4 years ago. (Just realized how long ago that was lol) with a older kind of jerry rigged version but it was very finnicky about multiplayer. But some times when games like this are i guess you'd say "ported" to modern operating systems they tend to lose functionality internet wise that's why i ask lol.

I know this game supports lan so i guess hamachi games are a possible choice but i hope with the galaxy client will eventually come gog's own solution to the games they can support streamlining the process of multiplayer for such classic titles, not just this one.

Really look foward to some classic death match and team death match sometime soon with this release!

I had checked a couple days after that and i tried launching an empty server by myself, unfortunately since gog uses their own launcher stuff to make outlaws work it seems it's incompatible. I sent a message to game ranger asking that they look into adding support for the gog version, i doubt they will.

Since i guess this thread is dead anyhow i guess nobody but me really has multiplayer on the mind when there's still quite a few bugs floating around for everyone. Hopefully gog will add multiplayer support to games they can through their own service like they did with avp 2000 and hopefully this will be one of them.

Note that you can still launch the game directly through the main executable rather than the launcher, although it admittedly seems that even that one is altered. But as I said in a different thread: neither the retail version nor the GOG version works right now, both crash at some point for me when trying to get MP running (curiously at different moments). Can't say for sure if there are really any notable additional problems with GOG's version. Galaxy is supposed to be a Steam-compatible API that developers can easily implement in their own new games. AvP 2000 just happens to be an old game whose developers still have access to the source code and are willing to put some work into re-releasing it - that's an extremely rare and special case. Sadly there's no sign yet that GOG can or will use Galaxy to restore multiplayer in old games whose publisher/developers aren't going to do it themselves.

I figured they might add support in the same way that game ranger does when possible, not that they change source code or anything since game ranger as far as i know has nothing to do with changing source code or specially patching anything to work with their services. I already knew how incredibly rare and unlikely that already is that avp 2000 was indeed a very special case. There are other clients that do properly support outlaws for multiplayer much better then game ranger but ports is one of those issues that always gets in the way in using any of those.

Main executable launching even without the use of game ranger crashes for most so i don't think that works. Nobody seems here to have tried launching a game manually through the in game menu either or just haven't talked about it so i don't know if that works, i have launched a server and played by myself but i'm clueless as to whether or not connections can actually still be made that way.

Yeah, I'll see if I can at least get a local match running this week. The laptops I have lying around should *just* be strong enough to run Outlaws. If that works it should also be possible to play the game online, at least if you manually exchange IP addresses with a friend. The fact that GOG do not mention multiplayer on the gamecard suggests that there may be some larger technical hurdles, though.

I'm not sure, but I think there still might be some of the old time outlaws players on e-WarZone from time to time (I can't post links here, but just google e-warzone). I've just registered a username there, downloaded the client checked the outlaws lobby. No one there right now though... they probably play in the evenings US time.

But anyway, that place would probably be a good way to test multiplayer, I will check in later to see if there's anyone there and see if I'm able to play... then again, I don't have the GOG version of outlaws (yet), still got the old version I used to play in multiplayer from years ago.

Multiplayer works with this GoG version, it took a while to figure it out but it works, the mains things were:
1. Use WarZone to find people to play with (Run as Administrator)
2. Install in C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Outlaws (allows you to join through WarZone)
3. Ports that need to be opened; to join a game: 2300, to host a game: 64699 and 47624
I opened both TCP/UDP but maybe only TCP is required, I'm not sure.
