It's the previous version of the game (without the 1.1 upgrade). It's kept as an option for those who have problems with the upgrade (until they get patched).
I hope it stays that way for a long time, as 1.1 is messed up completely in my view. Classic Outcast works perfectly, and for game-historical interests it should stay in the bonus section anyway. The 1999-Outcast is the "good old game" after all.

I'm pretty sure it will, there's no reason to remove it. It's there for those who want the original, unmodified game.
At least GOG should rename this link/file to "outcast classic" and not "product_bonus_38603" ...

Probably irrelavent, but the previous version was far from umodified. It had at least half a dozen fan patches (and a CPU limite included) because otherwise, the game wouldn't work at all.

That's true. But those modifications were in place to get the game to run on modern machines and give an experience very close to the original game. So it's about as close to the original game you can get without getting an actual CD copy.
