hi,
does anyone know how to unpack the music files in Outcast? I'd like to try unpacking them to wav, adjust the volume (downwards), and repack them.
Or if anyone knew how to get from MP3 to wv2, that would work too.

Or you can download the soundtrack from your gog account.
(left click on the outcast box -> soundtrack)

Sure, but I want to adjust the volume of the tracks within the game, so they need to end up in wv2 format.
Why not just turn the music down?

r10k: Why not just turn the music down?

The game has a slider where you can adjust the relative volume of the music and the rest of the audio. I think the shortcut keys are R and E, you can get to it in-game from Options... However this doesn't seem to make any difference when I've tried it. Someone suggested the slider was based on the fact that the music was played from the CD - so the way of turning down the music was just to turn down the CD volume on your computer. (and I'm pretty sure after I turned down the music on the slider, when I checked my volume properties, the CD volume had indeed been turned down).
Now that the music is on the hard drive rather than the CD (a good thing!), this method no longer works.
It's not that big a deal, I was glad to finally be able to listen to the music at all, but the longer the game goes on the more I *really* want to turn down the music...
