I'm running on win7 x64. The game runs wonderfully, with no issues.
The only problem I'm having is with the loader, as some buttons cannot be clicked. The exit button, for instance, the scroll down arrow too. The controls button is also unusable.
I remember having this issue a long time ago on XP, too.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Yes having this problem also.
Is a problem as I cant configure the controls properly.
I am running Win XP SP3
Any solutions?
It's not a solution, but at least you should be able to change all the settings outside of the loader in the respective ini-files. For example, the controls can be changed in the Control.ini, graphics and game options in the loader.ini and maybe the appropriate *CPU*.ini.

Well I gathered as much, since that's the way I configured it, but still, I was curious if this was a common issue with the loader.

i had the same problem (windows 7 prof. 64bit)
do you have a multi-monitor setup?
i have 2 screens, desktop is extended to the second screen - some buttons i can only click when i drag the loader to the second screen.
so if you have a multi monitor setup try to disable the second screen or drag the loader to the second screen.
I just wanted to chime in here, since I have the same problem. All I can click on is the "OK" button, everything else is just dead. Well, loading a savegame kinda works, but instead of loading it the launcher crashes in nine of ten cases.
I only have one monitor, running win7 Premium x64 with a GTX260 and a quad CPU. I am not fond of the idea to hack around in the INI files, there is so many of them …
I am open for suggestions or at least a good INI guide.

No multi-monitor setup here.
I just want to know whether this is a common issue on any OS after win98 or not.
On my pc (Win7 64, Intel Core2 Quad CPU @2.40 GHz, Dual SLI GeForce 8800 GT) none of the loader buttons can be clicked. This makes playing the game kinda difficult.
The issue is present in both double- and single monitor setup.
I'm having the same problem. Windows 7, 64 bit. Geforce 9800 GTX 2500x1600 single monitor
I have to use a third party loader exe since I can't quite figure out which ini files I should be changing to alter the resolution.
Has anyone found a solution for this yet? I'm having the same problem. Running Win 7 32bit on a single screen notebook.
I"m having the same issue... changing ini files isn't letting me change the controls either
Can anyone help?
I have nothing to contribute, but I wanted to log in as another W7/64 user who can't properly use the loader.
GOG really needs to either fix this or publish some sort of INI hacking guide.
Same problem here, but i remember having those issues already with my first CDs, when i purchased outcast many years ago. Never found a solution.

The problem ist: you can't choose another resolution, using the Hi-Res Patches, and changes in the loader.ini are overwritten by the game. Therefore i changed the options in the special cpuxxx.ini. Just look here:Post 72

So when I get the loader launched, I get the menu four options "New Game", "Load Game", "Settings" and "Quit" but none are clickable.
As indicated somewhere in this forum, I could launch the game by creating a shortcut to OC1.exe and adding the field " game" in the shortcut properties.

Now I'd like to have access to the settings to change the resolution of the game (thanks to the high resolution patch). Since no button is clickable in the loader I can't modify the settings and changing the resolution in Loader.ini or Outcast.ini don't seem to work either.
Any idea?

EDIT: I've finally managed to modify the resolution: in Outcast.ini, set the wanted resolution not only in ScreenWidth and ScreenHeight but also in VideoWidth and VideoHeight. I thought the resolution for VideoWidth and VideoHeight would only affect the in game cinematics, but I was wrong.

I solved this problem by moving the taskbar to the bottom of the screen. Hurt's post gave me the idea somehow.
