Hey everybody,
after some years, I wanted to replay Outcast. I'm a little bit irritated however, as I read that in the 1.1 there are new bugs introduced, some of them quest-breaking. Can you tell me if 1.1 is properly playable now or is it safer to play the classic Outcast again?

Your concern is understandable because the first releases of Outcast 1.1 had some disappointing issues and it made finishing some of the quests a bit difficult. The latest revision (at least the latest I have) is rev 6 (build 18970) and I've noticed only 2 bugs and neither are really quests killers.

The first is buying magwa from Logar sometimes. If he doesn't put the gui he's carrying in his pocket, then you won't get the magwa. I usually save the game just before talking with him, just in case.

And sometimes when talking with the recreators, the conversation will just stop and leave Cutter just standing there and not able tomove or interact with anyone! I found that if you press F1 twice, he can then move but not do anything else. But if you then take him through a daoka, he returns to normal!

Otherwise, it's pretty much like the old GOG version with small some differences that actually make it easier to play.

sorry, the forum haves many problem to reply without quote someone, the game is a mess, the very first opening scene already has NO VIDEO, and is unplayable right from the start, i dont get all the good reviews, i guess they are because of nostalgia and the original game, not this crap version

You might consider submitting a support ticket to GOG about this. Others have been able to run the game without problems, so maybe there is a specific issue with your machine that you can fix.

You can also check the Steam forums for the game which the developers read, and see if they can help you there.

I believe that you should install Outcast 1.1, then the patch "...18970" and finally the patch "...19100".

"Outcast Classic" is supposedly the original, unpatched version, which you probably don't need unless you run into an issue with the patched version or want to play the original game as it was released without the added features.

GOG should really put some information on some of these downloads.
