I have applied Zenger's hi Res patch, but I just cannot get OUtcast to run full screen.
I have tried different methods of starting the game but I still get a windowed mode.
I have just unistalled the game and reinstalled without applying any patches. Could somebody give me a step by step list of how I install and then run the hi res patch?

I tried the vanilla GOG version just to see if it works and it does not. I try the loader and after the OUTCAST loading screen (the one where the symbol fills with red until the game loads) it goes to the smaller screen and then just freezes....I have to bring up the XP task screen to get out of the game.

I was confronted with a windowed mode, too, but Zenger's patch worked perfectly for me.

I'll try to give you a step-by-step guideline, based on how I did it:

1. Download the patch (V3) using following link: [url=http://www.mediafire.com/?4h1at8stfc9cfiv ]http://www.mediafire.com/?4h1at8stfc9cfiv[/url]
2. Unpack all the contents into the Outcast-directory (e.g. C:\Games\Outcast)
3. Run the patch (APPLYMEGAPATCH.exe).
4. Select your desired resolution. I chose 800x600 and am satisfied with it.
5. You may or may not want to activate "remove hud rectangle". I didn't.
6. Activate the patch by clicking on "Change Options".
7. Run the Game / Loader and choose "Settings".
8. There are three buttons on the upper-right side. Click the one on top, which are the "Performance Settings".
9. Click on the down-arrow on the upper-left side once and you will be able to set the resolution. Choose the same one you applied with the patch.
10. Click "OK" on the bottom and start a game.
(Further information can be found in the textfile (README_Z.txt) included with the patch.

For me, there was no "change options" button but all your other steps helped me get the game running full screen, thanks. :)

Hey guys, when I'm trying to install the Patch V3 , it tells me that there's an "unexpected error while opening the file : zendat.dat"
"Put all files of the patch in the game directory".

But that's exactly what I did.
Any idea ?

it's been a while, but i believe i had a similar issue when i tried to extract to the game (access denied). extracted to documents instead, then clicked and dragged over to the game, and that worked for me (kept the read me files in documents).

Thanks for the instructions Maestra!

I managed to get my game patched, and now I can see what's going on. A few things though, once I selected the desired resolution I has the option to 'install patch' rather than 'change options'. Also in the game settings I chose HIGH DEF instead of the screen size I chose in the patch options.

Not a massive problem but it may throw some people off, and it works so I'm happy.
