So I just bought this game today and I can't figure out how to run it with the steam overlay. I can run it through steam, but the overlay doesn't work. I have already turned off the setting which said I had to run as an administrator and that did not help. I have tried every compatibility mode and still nothing. Maybe it isn't possible, but I would really like to be able to talk to my friends while I am playing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's not possible, afaik. The steam overlay doesn't support games that run using old directx versions. I believe directx 8 is the minimum.

ah well that really sucks. I guess I will have to deal with minimizing it in order to talk to people for now.

My thoughts exactly. In order to truly immerse in the game, you best make yourself comfortable and shut out the world around you, being truly alone (late evening or night is perfect, if you ask me).

This, plus I personally find it annoying when people are bugging me in the middle of a game short of something important I want to be left alone when playing my game.

For those of you who use XFire, it now supports Omikron apparently, with the in-game overlay and everything.
