Cheeky request for help from a mac gamer using parallels 8.

Trying to run Omikron on Windows XP SP3, graphics card is AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB.

The main menu for the game flickers to the point of being unseeable, and if the game is started the main graphics work fine but the text is invisible and the menus in the sneak are unreadable too.

I know this is a notoriously awkward game, but any help would be welcome, loved this game many years ago!

Thanks!

Is this the GOG version, or some other version? There's some extra config options you could try poking in the GOG version, but I'd have no idea what to do with any others.

GOG version, excuse me. The original version would not load at all.

Have tried altering the resolution, and software/3D accelerated versions etc in the options program. Some changes, but none that could be described as an improvement.

ok then, open the file '%APPDATA%\GOG\Nomad\Config.ini' (Create it if it doesn't exist) then on the first line put

[Graphics]

Under that, try various combinations of VsyncMode=0 or 2, InventoryFix=0 and GraphicsPatch=0, and see if any of them give an improvement.

If not, change config.ini to

[Misc]
DebugMessages=1

then run debugview alongside omikron and see if anything pops up in there saying something is wrong.
No joy with the config.ini file.

Debug says as follows:

There's nothing going wrong in there. If no config changes had any effects, and given that no-one else has mentioned similar issues, I guess parallels is your problem.
Cool i'll look into alternatives, thanks for the help.
