Heya guys,

Is the controller support fixed in the GOG release? I still have my physical copy of this game and even played a bit lately, but no modern controllers wirk as they should. I had to use Xpadder to map keyboard buttons to my gamepad in order to make it work, but that means no analog movement. How is the situation in your version?
Just tried it with my 360 pad and it goes nuts like quite a few other classic games do as they only support DirectInput, Xpadder is going to be the way forward with this one.

Going to setup a profile in the next hour or so, at least modern controllers have enough buttons as this game does have a fair few keys to map out.
I tried using xpadder to map the keys, but it seems as though there is no way to disable the in-game controller option to use xpadder. They seem to be hard coded because I can't seem to find a ini fie or cfg file anywhere. :(
I was tinkering with dead zones and everything last night, even tried to set left stick as mouse but the usual doing random things and spinning on the spot.

Really need to invest in one of the Logitech pads with the DirectInput switch on the back. Keyboard control on this one is pretty intuitive though and doesn't batter your head
Hey guys, I do not own the GOG version of this game, but I still have my original disc in its crazy box!

Anyways, if you have an xbox controller, if you use the DPAD to move the character will not spin in circles.

But this game does feel more natural to play on a keyboard.
The only time the controller goes nuts is on the save screen, it's EXTREMELY frustrating to have the game work fine everywhere except when I need to save even when I have the controller DISABLE in device manager. I can usually get it to work after some fighting with it, but it's a pain none the less.

I find with a joypad he just keeps walking forward all the time. I just set up xpadder to use joypad, but it just uses in game joypad settings. I can't do these key controls on this game. Anyway around this to use joypad?
Yeah, I'd like to see controller support for this game get fixed, as well.

I have one of those (logitech f510). I had issues in both the DirectInput and Xinput modes.

The fix I came up with was to use the logitech profiler that came with my gamepad. I set the analog stick to the keyboard arrows. I like the logitech software because it only disables the joystick buttons that have been set to input keystrokes, allowing me to keep the rest of the buttons unmapped. I also heard that some people have problems with XPadder keeping the hardware input of the joystick enabled, even if it was set to mimic keystrokes, which would still result in problems in some games.

Those logitech controllers with the switch in the back (F310, F510, and F710) are by far the best controllers when it comes to compatibility. I bought it specifically to play some of the games I got on GOG and I have yet to find a game that I couldn't get to work due to controller issues.

The solution to get the xbox controller working with Xpadder is the same as Divinity II, which is you need to start the game with the controller unplugged, then it won't detect the controller, and then you plug it in and the Xpadder method works perfectly!
Just bought this game in the recent sale, so I'm bumping this thread. I'm trying to play with a Logitech f710 controller in D-input mode, which this game should support natively, right? But the game simply will not recognize the controller, no matter what I do. Anyone else have this issue, or a work around? How did you D-input users get this game to work with your controllers?
Me 2. I can't play with x360 controller. Please fix! Using the keyboard to move around is annoying

This method works flawlessly, thank you!!!

I have the same controller, and am using it in that mode. I had to use the Logitech profiler to map all the buttons to keys, though (and the right stick to mouse movement).
I really wish Gog would fix controller support for this game/ :(
It was my favourite game when I was a teenager, I'd really like to play it again, but I want to use my f710
