I just bought this game as it's marked for Windows and Mac. I see the Windows version standalone installer is available, but not the Mac version. It is also not available through Galaxy (the "Install" button is greyed out). I look forward to the Mac version being made available soon!

Edit: Also, I notice the Heroes of the Aegean DLC is marked for Windows only; is a Mac version going to be available on GOG as well? (Steam says it's available for Windows and Mac.)

What happened to the Mac version?
It was marked as Mac and Windows when I put it into my basket, but after buying it shows me Windows only in my Library...
Will it be available later? I am using a Mac Pro...
Bad news for Mac/Linux users. You should probably request a refund..Don't know why they can't release those versions if they are already available on other stores.

Incomprehensible. I was really hoping to support GOG with this as I've been a fan of their DRM-free model for a long time, but I guess I'll have to ask for a refund and head to Steam. :(

Thanks for linking to that announcement, I'm not on Twitter and would probably have missed it!
What a disappointment. I suppose I will head to the competition.
Why? I would have preferred to buy from GOG and it is not like it doesn't exist as version.
Looks like they added a Mac version in a latest update. I've installed it and it seems to run good on my M1 Mac mini. It reports itself to be 'Intel'. Steam news for this game shows they have test build for native support of M1 chips so possibly we will see that here once it is finished.
I think ever since they added an update to natively support apple silicon M1 cpus, this has stopped working for me. It stopped loading after that... it loads the scrolling map loading screen and never gets to main menu.

Logs showed it has problems loading some gog galaxy csharp libraries (probably for some gog galaxy integration) which fails on M1 cpus. Before the installer was a 'universal' package (supporting both mac Intel and mac m1), it was smart enough to automatically enable Rosetta emulation but now it just fails.

If I open Finder and browse to applications/Old World and right click the OldWorld.app, click 'Get Info' and manually check to use Rosetta emulation it does work again but that makes it less than pointless for them to have made a universal package since the user has to manually choose that now, not to mention they can't take advantage of any native speed improvements.

Seems to run ok but I haven't had time to get deep into any games yet so unknown if performance in big games would take advantage of native build.

Since the actual "Gog galaxy" app itself on Mac seems to still be an Intel only package (which Mac automatically enables Rosetta), I'm guessing the "libGalaxyCSharpGlue" library which gog provides game developers is also Intel only and not interoperable with the m1 build but has no problem with the Intel build. To avoid problems with starting the game, it would probably be better to have no galaxy integration at all if it continues to use universal package since most macs are quickly becoming M1. That or go back to forcing Rosetta emulation by making it Intel only which seems a step backwards. Ideally (or realistically), this might not 'work as expected' until gog provides galaxy integration libraries that work with both native M1 as well as Intel builds distributed as universal packages.

We're sorry about the Mac Build not immediately working on GoG at release, those were releasing issues more than anything else.

However the game should be working on GoG just fine now, including on MAc although not as a native M1 build (only Steam supports that atm).

I'll report the latest issues you've been facing with having to select Rosetta yourself and see if we have some news to report back
Thanks for info, without knowing the obstacles needed to get native m1 working with gog packaging, it would be nice if there was a way to turn off galaxy integration when run under m1 build/binary if there are issues with that at the moment... that would be preferable for me but maybe not for others. Maybe some config file can disable that integration along with m1 binary for advanced users as temporary solution.

The game runs without Galaxy, I'm not very aware of how offline downloading works with GoG but I've been told by Mac users that the build is available too and works just the same. The DLC content is now also available in offline mode. I'm really not knowledgeable about Macs in general but maybe others will be able to chime in regarding possible advanced setups.
