Game just won't launch. It just throws me back to desktop with error message "Oddworld Abe's Oddysee has encountered a problem and needs to close".
I've tried everything: updating my ati-drivers, win95 and 98 modes(I have XP), reinstalling the game...
I'm running out of ideas what to do.
Sorry my bad english. I'm from Finland.

Take a look at the application section of your XP Event Log, there might be some more specific information listed that could bring you closer to what the problem really is.
Thanks.
I think the problem is a file called ntdll.dll. It's causing the error-message. Don't know what to do with it.

voltan: Thanks.

Hmmm, that's not very good. ntdll.dll is an integral part of the OS, so you do not want to mess around with that.
Do you have any Antivirus product installed? If so, then deactivate it and see it that makes any difference.
Was able to find another person with the same symptoms as you, but that appeared to have been a driver problem, and since you have already checked your driver versions I suppose that's not the problem in your case...

Deactivating AntiVir didn't help. I tried reg cleaning and it didn't make any difference. I give up. Wasted money. I should have just bought it from Steam.
Thanks for trying.

Well, it's rather sad that you give up already. Don't think it would have made any difference to have bought it on Steam though.
Remember that you still have the option of creating a support case with GOG, that might be your best option right now.

I just don't want to lose any sleep over this. I'm not really a pc-gamer anymore and this is the reason. I will still contact GOG.

That's certainly understandable. It's so annoying when things don't work as expected.
If you change your mind about trying stuff, let me know - I still have at least one idea left :-)

I'm having the exact same problem. I've opened a support request with GOG. I've purchased other games from GOG and they have all worked flawlessly. Hopefully they will be able to help.
This is what the problem looks like:

Someone on the Steam Forums had the same problem and posted that link.

Sorry you're having problems :- We're trying to reproduce the problem here in our test lab. I hope that someone from the team will have an update soon.
If you haven't raised a ticket with support, please do so, the more information we have the better.
What Oldski said. :) Please make sure you send us a DXDiag file, even though it's optional. It should help us get to the bottom of this.
having this problem as well and confirm that the Steam version has the error too. I believe I had this problem before my graphics card died and am still having it using the onboard video. Really want to play this game!
