As you can see, some of the fonts are not showing properly. This is in the Linux version. Are there perhaps any fonts I need to download?

You might want to follow along with the Linux version doesn't work properly thread. Font issues are one of a number of issues they're trying to address there.

It is definitely the correct font, you can identify it using the characteristic 'a' for example.
There is some weird font rendering issue on Linux that is affecting a lot of users. Not me though for unknown reasons. Also doesn't seem to happen with the Steam version from what I read.

That is what the font is supposed to look like. At least that is how it looks to be since the first release 0.9.0 back in June last year.
