1.0.6

Still segfaulting on a clean install with the Library issue. Removing libs workaround is successful. Still no news items, even in a new game. Solus, kernel 4.20.16, glibc 2.29, Mesa 19.0.0

The game seems more stable, no crashes in two hours or so, except from a previous saved game with maybe the missing spacesuit images issue. However there was a freeze just after I jumped one time, or I think the jump was successful. The screen and mouse pointer froze, but the sound continued as if the jump completed. It wasn't a system freeze, just the game window. The game was using 1.1GB of RAM and had one core pegged to max. I don't see anything in the output, but this is what was there as of the freeze:

1.0.7 - still not working under Linux Mint 18.3.

On Steam, they added Linux but they don't mention support for Ubuntu 16 like they did on GOG, and they never sent me another email after first giving me high hopes for a fix, so I guess they are trying to silently ignore the one user who is still running Mint 18.3 instead of 19.

Due to a huge family crisis, I am too late to ask for a refund now, and I just want this game to work. It can't be that hard because EVERY other Linux game I own does work on this system.

I am SO disappointed, I had high expectations from this game and its development team but like many others, they ignore those single customers they will never earn money from again.

The huge negativity in this post might have to do with my terrible family crisis, sorry about that, but it doesn't change the fact that the problem still exists.

I really hope they will fix the Linux issues, but they seem to be a bit slow. Maybe they have plenty of general issues with the game. You aren't alone in that you are a bit disappointed. The game is quite different and has great potential, so this slow to no reaction when it comes to fixing serious issues on Linux is quite a bummer.
For anyone who is still struggling with this one in 2024, I found a solution that works for me on Ubuntu 22.04.

I just moved the librt.so.1 binary out of ~/GOG Games/Objects In Space/game/libs and it started working.

The issue is that librt.so.1 depends on an old version of glibc that does libpthread differently, so as long as you have a more modern version of librt installed, it might work.

I didn't research which specific package contains librt, but I suspect it's librtaudio6 in Ubuntu 22. It was already installed on my system.
