OpenNox v1.8.1

The team is proud to announce OpenNox v1.8.1 build!

This release focused on introducing high-resolution support, and also significantly improves stability.

New features in this version:

High-resolution support (up to 4K)! You'll need to run opennox-hd.exe for it.

A lot faster OpenGL-based rendering (partially offloaded to GPU).

Automated end-to-end testing mode, see opennox-e2e for details.

Simple HTTP-based Server API for controlling game servers.

Allow disabling image smoothing in the video options.

Allow enabling image stretching in the video options.

Add cheat charm.all to charm any creature (including humanoids).

Other minor optimizations.

Bug fixes:

Bug with creatures being "deaf" (not reacting to footsteps, etc).

Banish of captured creatures (like vampire bats) leading to scripts being stuck.

Properly forward ports when server port is changed via a flag.

Nox Reloaded failing to join OpenNox Quest games.

LUA scripts when reloading the same map from the console.

Error when manually saving player in online games.

OpenNox changing user.rul file permissions.

Properly show the last character in long server names.

Disabling soft shadows via -soft flag.

Multiple crashes for both solo and multiplayer.

To install or update, make sure you have original Nox installed, then just run the OpenNox installer. Once it's done start opennox.exe (or opennox-hd.exe for high-res version), and enjoy!

Thank you.

I cannot play on 4k...TEXT and GUI are too small for my eyes :(

Any possibility solution for GUI stretch/enlarge?

Also it does not play videos from the game :(

I think you can get help from the developers. Take a look there.
Oh man, thanks for the heads up! This works mint! This should be stickied and added to the GOG release IMO. I'll see if I can contact a mod or admin to let them know. Thanks again for posting the link and a massive thanks to the Open Nox devs <3
What exactly is "open" about this? Is source code available somewhere? Or documentation, for that matter?

Any idea if this works with the EA version of the game? I already own I on there but if it doesn't work I'll just buy it here for the few quid it costs lol
The project supports GOG, ORIGIN and the CD version. Just try it and return with your experience.

Wonderful to have such a wrapper.
Any idea why I might be experiencing this "wobbliness" with the background, when the character moves around and the screen scrolls?
I tried turning OFF all options but it remains.

They recently open-sourced (GPL3) the code: https://github.com/noxworld-dev/opennox
Open nox version is great. Movies are working and one day i hope, they figure it out how to enlarge UI.
I don't think OpenNox is detecting my install of Nox. Every time I try to run it, it fails to detect the install and immediately closes.

I downloaded it thru GOG Galaxy, so would it work better if I installed the game thru the standalone exe instead?
Hello. I am trying OpenNox and it is great. But i have an issue when i load a quick save from the game: the character (wizard) appears with random buffs of skills i don't have. Once it got one that didn't allowed it to move, and this last time got a skull thing that killed it instantly after i loaded again. Normal save works fine for now
does this come with NoxQuest?
Works beautifully for me. Windows 10 Pro, fairly dated audio and an old GTX970.

I had the same difficulty getting it to find the installation--what worked for me was to make a shortcut *in* the Nox directory that pointed to the OpenNox executable. With my game in d:\games\nox and OpenNox in d:\games\opennox,

Target: d:\games\opennox\opennox-hd.exe
Start in: d:\games\nox

I am running in 1280x720, sound and works great.

The only minor problem is it does have the "high speed color cycling" highlight circles, common to high refresh rates. I hope this may eventually get tuned out by faking the refresh rate in future updates.

I finished the game with my Wizard and this mod works great. But i still have the problem that some save files get "corrupted": when i load the character has some random buffs, some that don't allow it to move and don't know if can be turned off in some way. My only way around it is to save often in different saving slots
