Bearprint: The description says Win 8, but what about 10?

TorelTwiddler: In the Windows Settings for both NOX.EXE and Game.exe:
- Compatiability Mode: Windows98/Windows Me
- Settings: Reduced Color Mode > 16 bit

In-Game Options:
- Set it to 1024x768 and it will apply when you start playing the game itself (not the meuns).
- 16 bit color
- Uncheck "Unlocked DX Surfaces"

Results:
Slight flicker of mouse cursor on the main menus, but not while playing.
Main menus are always 640x480.
Game runs fine.
These settings ran the game fine for my Windows 10. I also did not disable optimization but did enable run as admin. Now if someone can get Nations Gold to run.

Thank you for this! I was about to give up on trying to play on Windows 10. I appreciate it.

I can get the game running using this method but for some reason there is no sound in game?
Has anyone actually finished the game on windows 10? I contacted support about it because the only way I can get the game running is to launch it directly from the exe file. They said that people run into problems later on? And does the game consistently freeze up after like 30 mins of play on windows 10, or was that just a windows 7 thing?

It works perfectly this way. Many thanks!
The description should say it works on Linux under Wine! I just installed it on Fedora 31 KDE spin and it runs just wonderful (and installs even faster than on Windows)! I also used the troubleshooter program in the tools folder to get 1280x720 resolution. Just awesome now!!
None of these steps worked for me. Win 10, latest updates.

I tried: changing compatibility & color to Win Me/16bit for both game & nox exe's. Screen flashes black for a second then back to desktop and no game.

Also tried ddraw.dll and Dxwnd. Nothing.

Exactly the same situation here.
It works beautiful on a windows 10 and a windows 7. Even online works.
Also, using apple porting kit works perfect too.
Was able to get it running smoothly using DxWnd on Win 10 64bit
https://sourceforge.net/projects/dxwnd/

Tips:
Use a fresh install (No compatibility settings enabled on game.exe or nox.exe)
In DxWnd, start by Importing "Nox (GOG).dxw" from the DxWnd Exports folder

Modify the new profile
"Path" = your actual GOG\Nox\Game.exe
enable "Hide desktop background", "Keep aspect ratio" and "desktop"

Switch to the "DirectX" tab
Change "Renderer" to OpenGL (Important! Don't skip)
enable "Full bilinear filter" (If you like graphics smoothing)

These settings should allow you to run the game in a borderless fullscreen mode, though text will be a bit blurry. You'll also be able to up the graphics resolution in game if you wish.

If you'd prefer being in fullscreen 640x480 only (larger resolutions don't seem to work) for the crisp text. Change the following in the DxWnd profile, at the main tab.
disable "Run in Window"
enable "Fullscreen only"

Thank you, good sir!
I've tried to do these steps:
- remove (or rename) files inside MOVIES directory
- add -window attribute to nox.exe
- don't change default options (it works only in 640x480)

I can start/load game, but when I press Right Mouse Button, the game freezes...

My Windows 10 system will launch the game with the above suggsetions

However Windows 11 will not run the game on my other main machine.
How do I get this to run under Windows 11? Thanks!
Anyone figure out the solution?

I get to character "creation" with this, but the Accept button there does not work.
