As above.
Yes, that makes absolutely no sense.

I would object anyway, but I particularly object since it doesn't work even when I do launch the game from galaxy; I can't start conquest mode regardless.

It's a shame; it's rather a good single-player game (campaign writing is only serviceable rather than great, but I can live with that given the gameplay is so good).

There's also a "campaign", which can be played without galaxy. But this doesn't expand with DLCs so you can't play the DLC factions except in skirmish mode without galaxy.
This is the same with Steam because the Steam version can be run without Steam itself running. However, if you do both conquest and multiplayer modes are locked out.

But with Galaxy it should work. At least for me it does.
I've managed to discover it's something to do with my firewall, but I can't figure out what I need to do to it. Galaxy, Northgard, and all Galaxy auxiliary applications are supposed to be allowed through it. But it only works if I turn the firewall off altogether.

Hey guys,

I don't think this is meant to be the case... Multiplayer intentionally does not work without Galaxy as it is dependent on a lot of the functionality and features the platform offers, but conquest should be playable outside of the galaxy client...

I'll chase up with the team and see what is going on.

Please add "Conquest" mode witout Galaxy! I have waited with my purchase until the game was released on GOG and i like the offline installer function! I think this now rare thing is a standalone feature from GOG.

Please can you add Conquest Mode without the need to use GOG Galaxy.

Hi Shiro_James, I'm assuming you're one of the devs for this game. If so I believe GOG has the option to change your user tag to that of a dev tag, so people can recognize you as such. Might want to ask GOG about that.

Can you please make conquest mode work without having to use galaxy?

Is this Problem fixed?
Unfortunately, Conquest requires Galaxy as the mode requires utilization of our servers, so sadly this is something that we can't do much about.

So, on Linux DLCs is pretty much useless? They cant be used in campaign and putting aside skirmishes they dont have any use since Gog Galaxy for Linux is myth.
I'm really really disappointented that the Conquest mode requires the GOG client to be running and online.

Hi,
I would like to thank Shiro Games for the Linux version of Northgard.

There may be a solution for Linux gamers, Minigalaxy, an Open Source GOG Galaxy client for Linux.
I haven't tested Minigalaxy yet, but I'm interested in your feedback, if it can work, a nice reset for GOG storyteller !

Having said that, I'm not enthusiastic about the idea of having to connect to a private server that might be closed.
A stand-alone solution that allows you to create your own connection would be much more interesting.
