There is no .app at the end of the installation, it's impossible to run.

The Mac installer is indeed broken.

As a workaround: try launching the Start_game.command file within the Northgard game directory.

Yep, looks like the proper Northgard.app is not installed for the macos version (although the rest of the data seems like its there in /Applications/Northgard/)

I have tried to use the command file. After selecting the the single player option in main menu the game begins to load. But it hangs during the loading screen and does not start the game to play. Maybe its a Catalina related problem? does someone has the same problem and a solution for it?

cheers

It loads just fine for me (macOS 10.15.4). Which Mac do you have?

I have a MacBook Pro (Mid 2015) and a Mac mini (2012). Same issue on both Macs. During installation I get an access error for "SystemUIServer". Is this normal?
I have selected the "Application" folder for the installation. The "Northgard" folder with the script resides within the application folder. When I start a single player match from main menu, the game freezes with the "almost there" screen during loading.
I have tried several changes. I have switched the game language to English. Same issue. I have deactivated the personal firewall (Little Snitch). Still the same problem.

Same here.

The SystemUIServer thing is a problem with GOG's installer packages. It has no bearing on the game itself. I also use Little Snitch, blocking any connections does not affect the game on my end. I did install the game in my user directory /Users/<users>/Applications/Northgard, but I cannot say whether this makes a difference.

I do have a Mac with a dedicated GPU, so I wonder if it is related to the Intel GPU. Can you tweak the graphics settings in the game and see if it makes a difference?

Also consider launching the game from Terminal to see if it gives any meaningful output. Unfortunately, the command-line session that start_game.command starts closes as soon as you quit the game. You can do it with this command:
cd /path/to/Northgard && ./osx/hl sdlboot.dat
I did several tests this morning. The installation is pretty the same as yours. I have a "Northgard" Folder in my "Applications" Folder. I guess there is no installation failure (except the already missing Mac App).

My Macbook has a dedicated graphic Adapter (AMD Radeon R9 M370X). Should be good enough for gaming. All other Games on Steam are running well.
I tried a tool called gfxStatus. You can switch between integrated and dedicated graphic adapter with that tool. Same result. Game stop loading with "almost there" screen. It's a kind of weird, but on my Mac mini (which has completely different hardware), I ended with the same result. The game stops loading with the "almost there" screen.

I've checked the terminal window. there are a many messages. There are several error messages like:

SIGNAL 15
hl._UI.$Sentinel_Impl_.tick(D:\Projects\shiroTools\haxe\std/hl/UI.hx:44)
hxd.$System.timeoutTick(hxd/System.hl.hx:355)
hxd.$System.reportError(hxd/System.hl.hx:184)

Its really hard to investigate. I think I will run the Windows version in Parallels or give Crossover 19 a try. Does someone knows how the Wine configuration (or bottle) has to be configured?

thanks for your support so far. I really appreciate it.

cheers

Searching for that particular error message revealed this forum topic at Steam: https://steamcommunity.com/app/466560/discussions/4/1753524964985816984/

I cannot help you with Wine or CrossOver, however. I switched to Bootcamp for this game, because it seems to run better there (this game has no option to change the resolution and it seems to look worse in macOS with a high-DPI/Retina display).
Thank you Eitot, I've installed Northgard in Parallels. The game runs smoothly. I think I will stick with that solution. Maybe a Mac Version with a working installer will fix the problem later on.

thank you for your support.

One more update to my MAC problem with Northgard. I have tried the installation with GOG Galaxy, and surprisingly the Game is running flawlessly. Conclusion: The offline installer installed version is incompatible with my MAC. The GOG Galaxy Version is running well. Maybe this helps someone with same issue.

cheers

Another thing to add: the save files are stored in the game directory too. If you choose the use the offline installer, bear in mind that the installer will overwrite the entire game directory and destroy your save files.
Hey All,

We are well aware of this issue, with the same problems being reported across all of the PC storefronts.

We apologize for the inconvenience at this time and are working to have this resolved as quickly as possible. We have already released 3 "potential" fixes (unsuccessful sadly) but have what looks to be a definitive fix going out on Steam now, that if successful will be rolled out to you guys as quickly as we are able to do so.

Thanks for the detailed reports and your support of the game, apologies again!
