I dont understand how they can be smart enough to develop such a game and release such a broken mess to the PC crowd?

FWIW, it's running great on my wife's PC.

Biggest concern is "loss of online services" and no way to be online (don't tell me the GOG version is gimped and CAN'T go online?!?), and the lack of patch.

the GOG version is NOT gimped as I was online earlier. If you have problems getting online it's probably 1 of 2 things: your FIREWALL is blocking the game in which case you need to change that setting OR (most likely if it's not 1): the servers are overloaded from people trying to play. If you were online earlier and are not now, number 2 is the culprit unless they set it so you need the patch to be online.

I think there are load issues. I've been online, and then will go offline, online, offline, etc with no changes on my part.
