wizisi2k: the GOG version is NOT gimped as I was online earlier. If you have problems getting online it's probably 1 of 2 things: your FIREWALL is blocking the game in which case you need to change that setting OR (most likely if it's not 1): the servers are overloaded from people trying to play. If you were online earlier and are not now, number 2 is the culprit unless they set it so you need the patch to be online.

notepad: I think there are load issues. I've been online, and then will go offline, online, offline, etc with no changes on my part.
That's good to know. Thanks to wizisi2k, too.
So do we have the patch or not?

Can someone from GoG please comment on this?

WTH?

I'm wondering about this:

"First PC patch released already! Update and restart if needed" from Sean Murray. Is it coming from Hello Games' servers, or does it only get pushed once Steam and GOG package it?

In Gog's defense, I say it's weekend and they're probably home with their families now. Seeya on monday.

I think it might be Steam and GOG packaging it and slowly pushing it out. Really disappointed at port right now. I know My specs are just above min requirement, but i really expected a stable 30 fps from 720p. Sadly no, I have to play with Powerpoint framerate. I will just hope when I get back from work, everything is at least fixed in some degree.
Stardog, how do you know it's not at 1.03? The PS4 version and this one seem very similar so far.
@eskoth maybe he's young and impatient ;-)

A failed launch is annoying and people including myself may have looked forward to it hard but a hosed premiere is not the apocalypse and end of all things. Especially since they are an indie studio with around 15 people. Regarding that it's quite an achievement still.

Guess I'll resume Dreamfall Chapters until this plays out :-)

Were are the days when a patch was released and you just downloaded it (ie. from patches-scrolls).

That client-based stuff really destroyed the old reliable ways...

Do you have it set to 60fps and applied? Mine ran like crap, all chugging and jerking until I applied the 60fps setting properly (which meant holding the mouse button in until the circle animation finished). Now it runs much smoother.

I (and I guess Stardog too) am deducing that from the fact that the NMS.exe is at "0.1.0.0" on the Version tab of file properties.

The PS4 and PC version are probably compiled differently so it would be 1.0. The check would be to rush the story and see if the three paths show up.
It'd be nice to know where things are at with the patch and when to expect fixes to the various PC issues.

From Sean's twitter feed it seems like the two most common problems are:

1) People don't already have Visual C++ Redist 2010 installed. (Hello Games and probably steam have released a patch to install this now)

Since I can't post links you have to google "Visual C++ Redist 2010" and download it from Microsoft

2) People don't have their graphic cards updated to the latest drivers.

That's an interesting train of thought - how much playtime will that cost you in case it is not patched? Since the save games have to be deleted before 1.03.

My game initially wouldn't launch. I temporarily disabled my antivirus (Avast) and ran the Galaxy repair/verify, and the Visual C++ installer popped up on its own as part of the install/patching process. Game is now working fine (outside of not allowing you to alt-tab, which is worked around by running in windowed mode). This is worth a shot if you can't launch the game especially if you run Avast.
