I've managed to salvage/purchase a number of ships that have special reactor cores that grant access to different types of stars, but so far, I've been unable to get any blueprints to allow me to actually build one.

I've read online in multiple places how you can get these blueprints from damaged machinery, or from various NPCs throughout the game, but every one of those web-pages were posted prior to the Foundation update. Can anyone confirm whether or not it's actually still possible to get those blueprints from any source OTHER than Polo now that the game is past version 1.1?

I know that Polo will eventually give you the various blueprints if you follow that story line... but I'm wondering if HG made it possible to get the blueprints in that way and removed the ability to get them any other way (which, admittedly, would be a fairly BAD idea, since they make it clear that following that story line is supposedly optional). Has anyone actually found a warp reactor sigma, tau, or theta blueprint "in the wild" since Foundation? If so, is there any prerequisite to getting them, or any locations where it is more likely for them to appear (e.g. within the specific type of star system to which they grant access)?

The best way to build out your ship is to find a crashed ship and salvage it. Make sure you have elements on hand to repair the critical functions. The crashed ships will usually have more functionality than you have but will need repair.

I have currently a big dilemma with warp reactors: I have reached 25 slots in my ship, I once have found a crashed ship with a Tau reactor, the second best possible I think. Problem is I had to dismantle it when going to a ship with more slots, I couldn't rebuild it because no blueprint, so it was simply gone, the blueprints for it come very late in the game I guess. So I ended up buying a new ship for 6 millions with slightly better weapon alignment and again the Tau reactor because I needed a lot of special ressources for building and I wanted to expand the sun systems I can visit. But it was a very bad business: the ship didn't have more slots, just better weapon upgrades + Tau reactor. I feel I just throw 6M out of the window...
It's hard to figure out if it's worth dismantling a Tau warp reactor and getting in a new ship with only 1 more slot, or refuse it. If you refuse you will however never upgrade your ship any further...A dilemma...

Question: better warp reactors allow you to travel farther, but what if I have no warp reactor and load more than 1 warp cells instead? Will I also travel farther then ?

This thread isn't about the "best" way to get warp reactors... it's a simple question. Can anyone confirm that it *IS* possible to get a warp reactor blueprint without getting it from Polo?

According to the developer, there are several quintillion stars available in the game, so the chances that any two players would actually find each other is quite literally astronomical. And yet within the first couple of days after release, two people did exactly that.

No matter how improbable it is for someone to find a reactor blueprint from a broken machinery or operation center, if it IS possible, someone will have managed it by now, and all it takes is for that one person to say "Yes, I did it", and the question is definitively answered. Asking the players is a good way to see if that's already happened. Asking the game makers is a waste of time given how infrequently they answer such questions (and the fact that the number of players playing the game outnumbers the developers by about a million to one or more)

The inability of one person to find it that way doesn't make it an impossibility, so I'm still hoping that someone out there that has had it happen (or who through working with the .exml files as a modder knows for a FACT that it cannot) will respond.

This has been said and repeated, there is even a dedicated topic for it on Reddit and Steam, fact is: that's not true. First, What you see in the galactic map are DOTS, NOT STARS. Then, they are not quintillions but sum up to maybe 4000-8000 in a larger sector that is sub-divided in 'galaxies' which are not separate dot clusters but just have a fluiding transit. All in all there are about 3.000.000 'dots' that the galaxy map represent, and this is feasable for computers, nothing easier. Or to say it the other way: if really quintillions of dots were in the map, you would take more than a real life time to navigate on it going in one direction only...That's not the case.
What really adds-up to a quintillion number are the different planet variations. But thing is, they do NOT exist until you go in a system - technically not even then, but only when you land on them. Then, the different 'variables' will come into play to 'make' the planet type and yes, I believe that there are quintillions of possibilities with just 7-12 variables like fauna, flora, mountain types, water, environment etc.
So, technically speaking, only 1 planet will exist at the same time. Anything else would be out of scope for computers anyway.

The fact that two people were able to meet soon after game start is not mysterious at all: it has to do with the fact that all players start in the same galaxy region (Euclid galaxy). It was just a matter of little time until players meet. If they do they will not notice each other because there are no FP avatars in NMS, also I highly doubt that they would notice any real changes made by the other player in real-time, the MP engine of NMS is very limited, Sean Murray meant to do a single-player game in the first place.

The simple fact is that with millions of people playing the game for over a month since the foundation update was released, if it was possible to find one of the blueprints I asked about through random chance, it would have happened by now. Asking here is the simplest way to see if it has.

Again: Please, no off topic responses. I'm not interested in how many stars there REALLY are, or the game mechanics of map generation. My point (which was still valid) is that with so many people playing, even the highly improbable becomes inevitable given enough time.

If anyone out there has encountered a blueprint through random interaction, I'd love to hear it.
If anyone out there has certain knowledge from working with the game files that it cannot happen, I'd love to hear it.

Yes, of course I would. I'm not asking anyone to spoil the game for me. Rather, I'm asking the opposite. If it simply isn't possible to get those blueprints without following a story line that we were assured it wasn't necessary to follow, I'd consider that a bad game design decision and use a save-game editor to just give myself those blueprints.

On the other hand, if it *IS* possible, and I just haven't gotten lucky (or haven't checked in the right places, or on worlds owned by the correct race, or whatever it is that I'm doing wrong), then I'll keep trying, secure in the knowledge that I'm not WASTING MY TIME trying the impossible.

So, if someone "spoils" the game for me by telling me they know for a fact that it CAN be done, it will keep me from spoiling my game - which isn't really much of a spoiler, now is it?

And since you seem intent on sharing your knowledge despite my requests for nothing but a simple "yes" or a "no" which doesn't involve a guess, I'll return the favor.

As far as I'm aware, it is possible to make a jump further than one warp cell can take you simply by having more than one warp cell loaded into the hyperdrive - even if there are no intervening stars to stop at. Without the various warp reactors, you won't be able to visit a certain set of star types (red, green, or blue - classes K,M,E,B,O). Also, the reactors greatly increase your hyperdrive's range, resulting in a 15x available distance (without synergy bonuses) which means you can travel further on a single warp cell with a fully upgraded hyperdrive than you can with a full tank (5 warp cells) on an unmodified one. However, the simple answer to your question is, "Yes".

Thank you for your details, but sitll my 'no' answer is valid which means: no, you won't find these blueprints randomly on planets by opening boxes or succeeding puzzles in terminals; AFAIK, you have to get them by other means, and I don't know how except finding them installed on ships. Also the Omega Warp reactor probably doesn't exist (I bumped into a post).
There is a website (sorry, I don't have the link right now) for mods that has 2 trainers you can use to add all you want, but I don't know if they still work with the Foundation update. Also a lot of game content has changed, and if someone gives you a 100% reliable answer, HG could change that again...

I assume ofc you play the Atlas Path, so visiting the S**** A****** will yield you at least 1 of these devices. I didn't yet get a second better one. and btw, there are black holes too, but you need to tell Polo/Nada to change to Free Explore. Maybe they give you these prints in Free Explore and not with the Atlas, I don't know.
