I seem to be running into a bit of an issue... I have finished most of the "expert terminal" missions, to the point where the scientist offers nanites for discoveries, the weapon specialists some crappy weapon each day, the boss does nothing but complain and the farmer orders me to plant stuff.

I thought that would be a good time to move them all to the freighter, but... as soon as I do that, they won't interact any longer. All I get is "Perhaps you should leave them to do their work", even the farmer after I finish a task and it says "go back to the farmer"... nothing. Unless I place him back on my original base.

Any ideas how to get those experts to interact on the freighter as well instead of just the base?

I'm not sure because I did those missions long time ago but maybe there is nothing left to do with those people. They always tell the same from a certain point. Is there another reaction from them when they are on a planet? If there is something left to do why not leave them on a planet? You can place a base-terminus there to always teleport back to this place.
Ahhh I see, maybe I was overthinking it. I'll just leave them on the base (which is still in Euclid, haven't built another one yet) until there is nothing more to do.

I am pretty much maxed out with my multi tool anyway (recently bumped into an S class with 24 slots in a space station) and I can get the scan rewards at the Nexus. Once the farmer is done he'll probably not keep on adding missions either... so really I don't need them on the freighter at all then.

BTW got myself an S class fighter - pretty it's not but at least I found one (took 2 hours of plane spotting).

I had had the same idea, and ran into the same problem.
Most likely it was on steam or reddit (source of all wisdom) where I've read that the terminal experts refuse to work on freighter 'bases'.

Moving the terminals from the freighter (after having done a savegame backup) back to some planet base seems to have resolved the issue, and the experts are continuing their storylines.

Would have made sense - right? - to move them out of harm's way, especially after the player's base obscurity had been compromised. But, no.

What a BEAUTY! --- Errm, well, at least it's dead useful, I'm sure
For a short while, I had an explorer S class : No practical use unless you count "Impresses The Neighbours" in.
When the A class fighter of the same kind as yours came along, it was that explorer I traded in.

Rostfreyh has got himself an exotic ship, but I don't see him using it -- probably the same: très chic, but useless.
[EDITed away an hilarious misspelling - I don't tell what it was! All this mulitlingual posting is getting to me.)

I'm trying to trade this squid for a shuttle right now. Because of the street credibility. The Squid doesn't fit my Hello Kitty backpack, you know? :)
Heh, which brings me to a pet peeve I haven't brought up yet - this really is a GUY'S game, right? I mean, I am FORCED to run around in a male body, I have yet to meet a female NPC (though Nadia and Artemis are debatable) and I can't paint my fighter a pretty pink colour. Speaking of outfits: why CAN'T I have a Hello Kitty backpack? And a real face behind that awful helmet?

My husband hates the game for that reason, no way he'd go multiplayer and look at me as a male all the time. Yet we we played Myst Online (URU) together for years... and I was hoping NMS would be a replacement. But I digress ;)

Next goal: try multiplayer and find how how to join you guys in the "Civilized space".

Well, I don't think that the spacesuits look 'male' very much. Nobody knows what's in there... And not beeing able to paint ships and freighters gives you the quest to find the right one out there. I mean... I hunted ships for hours just beacause of the colour ... And I actually DO have a Hello kitty Backpack! :)

I fiddled a bit with the appearance thingy in space station with the races with faces (see attachment). Could be female, too, I think. Your husband doesn't want to go out with aliens?

And girls! ;) Well, technically you'd have to play via GOG.com-Galaxy and turn on multiplayer. For the ingame 'How to' see Johntodd's very good explanations. -> How to get to GoG civilized space

Technically, it's a kid's game (from 12 upwards in my country). We all now what guy's games really look like.
Plus, you almost never get a chance to look at each other's avatar in MP: There's a tiny biped in the landscape with a blue dot over their head, ah!, that's rostfreyh.
Ahhh I thought multiplayer meant you get to visit each other's bases and build together, or something... no idea really how I pictured it. Should be interesting to try - all this is new still, not used portals (other than the ones that I encountered on the missions) or coordinates etc. Will keep that as a personal mission the coming weeks :)

As for looks, I went with a little more conventional than that alien look (though I admit, it's kinda pretty)... https://imgur.com/nMF5aeP

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear about that: Yes, you visit each other's bases. It's just that, in my experience, there is really very little opportunity to admire each other's avatars (back away three steps, and you can't distinguish one from the other) -- invalid as an excuse for your partner not to play with you! :D
Hehe I'll tell him that - he looks over my shoulder and shudders. Glad to hear it's not quite as bad in the game :)

However to him it seems like such a boring game, all he ever sees is that ugly avatar running around, waiting around for the refiner to do its stuff, a ship warping to a new location or me talking to even uglier traders. He likes the landscapes but that's about it. I don't think this game is for everyone ^_^

We had a chat over there in multiplayer - "How come this is so much fun? This shouldn't be that much fun, should it!" -
Bottom line: It's LEGO. *<:D
In this game you are neither male or female, just a Traveller Avatar. And I think they designed it that way purposefully so as not to upset anyone no matter what denomination. Consider one of the main developers is trans gender (I think, not too sure exactly how that person would define his self, apart from he is not a she, and psychologically has probably always been in the wrong body real life).
Thanks for the insights :) I kinda find the 3 races male like but I guess that's in the eyes of the beholder. It's all good really, just having a friendly discussion here. It's definitely not a show stopper, I was having some fun with it :D

That said, right now I'm getting more and more money coming in through the freighter missions and no useful ways to spend it, because I already have the maximum amount of exosuit slots, an S class multi tool, 48 slot hauler, S class Fighter, 34 slot awesome looking freighter and a whole fleet of frigates.
I can't even spend it on suit/ship/multi tool improvements because those take nanites. So I think I'll end up being a very rich traveler soon!
