Or am I just too dumb to find out how?

Edit: Well, apparently I am. More -> Other has an OpenVR option. Trying that now.

Another Edit: It works for me if I start Oculus first, then manually start SteamVR, then start the game. Not ideal, but it works for now.

Well, all that gets me is an empty SteamVR environment.

Yes, other Steam VR games (e.g. BeatSaber) and non-Steam VR games (e.g. Trover from the Epic Store and standalone E:D) work just fine.

you might try adding nms to steam as a non steam game, not sure if you have to link the vr executable to make that work or not.
that's bullshit if we have to run Steam to play non-steam game in VR...
You don`t have to run Steam to play unless you`re using VIVE or Steam Index I suspect (because SteamVR). But with Oculus, no. Some of you people are too impatient. You`re not giving yourselves time to figure things out.

There`s 2 options in the Windows start menu 1 for VR and 1 for normal.

Stop panicking, take your time and you`ll see it works fine, all.

Well as soon as you start NMS the SteamVR fires up so yes, you have to run through 2 VR clients which is bullshit

Please elaborate... I dont see this when I start NMS via Gog Galaxy...I do see something hidden by the Patch info type screen on NMS start...but not this "There`s 2 options in the Windows start menu 1 for VR and 1 for normal.

Don`t start with GOG Galaxy, go into yourStart menu (lower left corner) and you`ll see a list, One will say No Man Sky and another No mans Sky (VR), hit that.

Agh! I just realise I was using open composite! I totally forgot!

However, I tried again without Open Composite and it doesn`t bring the main Steam up, just the small Steam VR utility. So it`s not fully using Steam. This isn`t HG`s fault.

Use Open Composite as that will allow you to play the game without even SteamVR popping up.

Thanks...

My Start menu has NMS Open VR (New) so will try this

I will also check out what "Open Composit" is etc....new one for myself...

Thanks....Laurie
Well Thanks and have tried to get it running via the start menu NMS Open VR with Windows VR Hub up and running ok....

FYI I can get NMS running in normal 2D mode from the Start Menu ok

From the NMS OpenVR on my Start Menu...I get to the NMS Open screen with the Hello Games Beyond info, which is in front of the saves to select... This info screen wont disapper...but I can select the top line of the Saves....

This then fires up the Steam VR application, this in turn goes to the Steam Home and is trying to set up headset and controllers for NMS AND edit the NMS exe.....

I dont seem to be able to stop the Steam App taking over...

I expected NMS VR to find the Windows VR Hub open and start from there...???

Laurie

FYI I did check up on Open Composite but thats aimed at the Rift headset which I dont have Samsung Odyssey Plus here.... Laurie

Socratatus: But with Oculus, no.
Then please explain to me why the game auto-starts SteamVR with the Oculus service already running.
