I assumed that settlements and bases would have a some sort of integration and sharing of building parts. But no! You can't use settlement parts for building and vice-versa. You can't access settlement power for building stuff like teleporters. There are no landing pads. No merchants. Its just plain weird. They are like alien entities that have nothing in common. Why can't we establish a settlement like a base? It seems an obvious thing, to me. Why is building a settlement so insanely slow? I don't get it.

This is the first update I actively dislike. Settlements are not fun.

Yes - I hope HG will do some changes in future for this.

But - I have built a new base a litte bit more than 300 u form my sattlement. So I can build own buildings close to my settlemant and I walk or drive with my vehicle to the sattlemen, if I have to do something there. (If I can do nothing or have to wait, I do more at my base there... sattlement and new base is a good way for me to have fun there :)

Yea. I still may be waiting till 3.65 just to be sure all child-diseases are cured before endangering my save games. Couldn't read anything about the havoc in player bases, not-summonable ships (with defect engine) or the multi-tool upgrade erasing on switching tools
I often used to wish that I could settle or keep creatures on my base. Or that I could populate my bases with some NPCs.

Now I can collect creatures - but only in my pocket. And the settlements are again not integrated into the base game, but somehow beside it.

It doesn't bother me either. But it is always a little disappointing that the new stuff is just cobbled on.

I followed Nob's idea (thanks!) and built 300u from settlement. I was able to build into the seetlement after this and have teleporters and landingpad in/near the settlement now (see attached pictures).

I wasn't initially able to use the whole area, but i was able to 'conquer' it step by step with building some parts on the edge.

That's great! Can you post a screenshot with the glyphs? So I can come for a visit :D

(Actually I'm building a watching base near Johns settlement at Gogus Proxima. Very funny! )

It's in 93/Dumas on planet Pothos. You've got a base on the Moon of the planet (Mousqueton) - named something with '.... Kupfer 20000'. But there isn't much to see for now.

Ok, great! I'll check it tomorrow morning. Just building a first settlement (you can build one settlement every save game, I have more saves ) at Gogus Proxima, John has his settlement here too... need some time for the first steps here...and 'll build a base close here too :)

I'm here now - Very nice! Look at my screenhot from your base and settlement (hope it's ok, to show this):

I'm just taking over a settlement at the planet Athos in GOG 93 - enough place for it and my second base in this system :)

There are generally two choices for game development: cobble on the new stuff, or issue a reworked game with a smooth integration that isn't save compatible. If Hello Games went with that second option the fanbase would lose their collective minds.
