This was submitted to hello games but they have not responded (after a week) and as this problem has not been mentioned in the steam forums it appears to be a problem with communications through GOG Galaxy. The GOG support system would not accept this without submitting system information which is not appropriate for a problem with hello games or GOG remote server communications so I have to ask this via the forums.

I typically upload discoveries in small groups but have noticed that sometimes a previously uploaded discovery will show that it has not been uploaded many hours of gameplay later. This has happened with waypoints, discoveries and even star systems. Screenshots and a log would not be practicable. Although some of this might be attributed to servers being off-line it seems that there must be some other issue contributing to this.

The appearance of this being associated with the servers is reinforced by the following:
1. When noted, the “missing” or uncredited upload is one that in the mix of those that are credited. For example it might be the third or fourth Waypoint from the left that now has the red check while those to the right and left of the red checked discovery remain reported (i.e., green). I have made allowance for the fact that I have sometimes forgotten to upload but when this is the cause this would be only with the most recent upload(s), not for an older discovery made several game restarts later.
2. Although I could do so frequently during early August or September 2016 play, I cannot open discoveries of previously uploaded or reported systems or planets. I am in UTC-8 and in the late afternoon on the Saturday following the restoration of servers a month or so ago I had a brief period when I was able to access data for previously reported or uploaded systems and found that perhaps a dozen or so Waypoints were not marked as having been uploaded along with several dozen species and even a planet or two. I was able to report/upload those in this one instance but it is unknown if these remain reported as I cannot access the information again. It was approximately $150,000 in "space bucks" worth of discoveries.

A second issue that I noted may have a similar origin or may even be faulty recollection on my part but I visited a couple of systems that had been discovered and uploaded by another player. As I recall, several months ago the system would still be listed in the Star Systems section for Discoveries. However, the last time that I visited a previously discovered system that system was not added to the list in the Star Systems section although the planets/moons were still undiscovered.

Thank You but this is not associated with the Foundation Update, etc., as it existed before and continues after the Foundation Update. When the galaxy is regenerated after installing the Foundation Update the resources, flora and fauna are completely reassigned so barren planets may become full of life, types and quantity of resources found change, etc. However, credit for original discovery of the planet or system was reported to have been retained.

Additionally, I have been slowly meandering towards the center of the galaxy (still have 57,000 light-years to go) and have delayed updating to Foundation until I finally get to the Hilbert Dimension. I am picking up the pace a bit so that I can hopefully complete my first galaxy and play with the Foundation Update before the next major change is released.

I have not created a log of balances of "space bucks" to see if I am also losing that credit in addition to any credit for discovery but I do know that when I re-report the discoveries my account does see the normal balance increases. I would really like to build up enough funds to get the free toaster from the Hello Games rewards catalog (I hear that it only takes $4 billion space bucks plus shipping and handling to get the lowest reward offered which is a toaster and $18 quintillion space bucks to get a gaming laptop).

As for renaming - rarely do so although sometimes if I do find an interesting planet (e.g., large numbers of Vortex Cubes in caves) I sometimes rename to draw the attention of someone that may follow. However, my naming inspiration is more along the lines as those so often expressed by Captain Cutter John and crew of the Starchair Enterpoop (i.e., from Bloom County by Berkeley Breathed, the greatest comic strip ever written). I did use Welcome to Megan Fox Planet once inspired by the commercial that showed Megan Fox Island but still haven't found a world bad enough yet to use Welcome to Mike Tyson Island.

Sean Murray was reluctant to add any online features in the game from the very beginning of the design because he didn't like it for NMS and perhaps he doesn't like MP games at all. He had to do so because of the pressure of Sony and its PS4 I think. The result could only be bad and over the top Sean was unjustly insulted as a lyer about 'Multiplayer capability' of NMS.
A good way to make Sean angry is to ask him to add more online features...He will not do so, and that's ok after all these shitstorms in many forums and insults to his person.
