I'm seriously fed up with getting attacked by sentinels no matter where I go. I can find a new planet with 'passive' sentinels and yet still get attacked within seconds of getting out of my ship.
My base planet used to be great to find resources and explore, I can't even do that any more.

Perhaps I need to start all over from the beginning again?

Any ideas anyone please?

There is a mod that turns off the sintinels:

Arguably the sentinels are closer to the devs' original intent. See the "No Man's Sky Goat" interaction in the early previews with Sean (starting about 3:20 and then def watch the video.) Would be nice to have that one shot one kill multitool he's using ... might make it too easy tho.

Most planets (I'm still on the fringes of Euclid in normal mode) have pretty ordinary sentinel drones. Pay attention to them. If they get nosey, stop whatever was alerting them, walk away, and wait for them to open to about 50 units or so.

I don`t think starting all over again will help at all. Sooner or later you`ll bump into them. I agree with you and Hostiles are even more ridiculously difficult to escape. Landed on my first planet and was immediately attacked. I`ve already been killed once because I simply could not defeat or escape them. Take off from the planet and you`ll be met with ship versions of them.

They are indeed a pain. If Murray could just halve their frequency it would help greatly which is exactly what I wrote when posted to his website on the `suggestions` tab. I also posted the same suggestion on Steam since all these Devs seem to pay attention there.

Right now, just avoid them and whenever you land make sure you have enough fuel to leave immediately if you see the bots are hostile in the info tab.

THIS^ Because it's infuriating to have to grind and mine already without those fuckin' automatons trolling you! They even span exactly where you're mining!
Now if there was a story-line to win the war against those pricks...

Yes, I hate the way they just know to spawn where you are, I can literally predict it now. Jump out of a ship, count to 5 while running- guarantee one annoying sentinel will pop up just for you.

Are you guys carrying on a previous saved game or starting over?

I ask as in the original release info the further from the edge starting system you traveled towards the center, the more dangerous it was meant to be (as in sentinals being more aggressive etc). So it might be that the original settings have actually been implemented now?

Or HG has simply upped the difficulty level from start. If so it would be nice to have some tech (like an invisibility shield or something) you could make and keep powered to reduce their ability to detect you?

The other option is off course mods :)

I`m carrying on a previous, but am thinking of starting over since I got killed. I still don`t think it`ll make any difference to those sentinels.

There is a probably a luck of the draw thing going on; spawn in a system with Sentinels that don`t really care and you might be ok. Mine have been `predictable` to `Hostile`. Predictable will stare at you for a bit then attack (move when they just stop and flash their light at you) or attack immediately (Hostile).

Ther eis no doubt the difficulty with sentinels have been upped. When I originally played this even Hostile sentinels were relatively easy to escape or shoot down and they never appeared so frequently.

I've had reasonable success with the Drones. My multitool is still too wimpy to feel comfortable taking on the Quads or Walkers.

On a hostile sentinel planet, I dunno. I've just left; not worth the bother. Otherwise, best deal is to kill the standard patrol Drone, get the two armored that warp in next, and then run away!. Ship is best; break contact and watch the countdown timer. I've managed to escape on foot using the melee-jump repeatedly to get behind a hill. Flying away is much, much safer. Avoiding contact at level three seems to make a difference in how well and quickly (if at all) the alert clears.
OK here is the BEST way to start a new game and get RICH FAST..talking tens of millions in an hr or so from scratch.

Start the game
fix your visor so you can scan
scan the ground..better around monuments..but it doesn't really seem to matter.
find buried artifacts...blueprints etc, mostly they seem to be worth about 50k
once you have something worth a lot of units ~50k or more is good.
build a duplicator on the ground (you wont even need to put carbon in it)
put the 50k item in the duplicator
move back from the duplicator
make ANOTHER duplicator in front (pretty well EXACTLY in front or it wont work)..and this is important...
... the 2nd duplicator must be as close as possible to the first one..literally as soon as it turns green and you have lined
it up in front of the first one..literally in FRONT of it..not to the side as this ONLY works FRONT ON!
ok.. Look in the second duplicator... BINGO.. you should be able to pick up a COPY of what you put in the FIRST duplicator... NOW, you MUST PICK UP the 2nd Duplicator... THEN open the 1st one and get the original product out of it.... you see what you can do now :)
Yes you can duplicate ANYTHING in numbers...
So what I did was get 3million worth of units before I even leave the planet... (NO MORE as its a WASTE OF TIME) and put it in my ship...
fly to a SPACE STATION... sell it..get the 3million ish
BUY ONE of the 2million dollar SUPERCONDUCTORS :D
fly back to the planet.... wash and repeat the duplication...
After I went to the station the 2nd time... I bought the biggest C class crap ship I could get
I then filled it up with superconductors and cashed in.
NOW..
The VALUE of the superconductors will fall sharply after they get more stock... so the first time you go to sell your
stock to them ... sell it from your LARGEST CACHE (the ship), then from your suit.
You will see the value DROP a LOT when you trade the first batch in.. this sucks right,,, NO !!! :D
Because all you have to do now id BUY ALL the SUPERCONDUCTORS BACK at like -30% ... then Fly to the next system when you are ready, and sell them at the NEXT STATION without having to make anymore.. :D AWESOME... you just made a sweet 30% without making any more.

NOW... what I REALLY recommend doing is KEEPING say 5 superconductors, that you NEVER SELL... this way you can always MAKE more... I noticed they seem to have dissapeared from my stations inventory now, so having backups is GREAT :D

Obviously this trick works on ANYTHING.. I make MULTIPLE WARP fuel and LAUNCH fuel... that way I can fly around without the freeking Hassels of having to recharge all the time by constantly remaking it.

I Hope this helps someone.. I am a slow typer and this took me quite a while.

Good luck guys.!

Thanks but no thanks. It would be easier to just edit the saved game file.

It's not the destination, it's the journey.

I do appreciate the effort (truly). Outsmarting the game and finding the "whoops" corner cases is an entirely legitimate way of having fun with it.

I also believe this. What`s the point playing if you`re just gonna cheat to the finish line? Pointless. I like making MY journey.

Anyway, decided to go back to Normal mode, instead of Survival. The Sentinels still pop up every 5-10 seconds, but are not quite as annoying as the former mode- Still annoying though.

Going on comments from other places and here it does sound like they have upped the sentinel's aggression. And also the 'difficulty' has a big effect also, so it looks like HG responded to some feedback or their own playtesting and decided the sentinels needed a buff.

I'm still waiting on a few more patches before diving in myself, but at least i will go in eye's open so to speak and pay more attention to the sentinels than i used to!

Definitely juiced the Sentinels. No more drone mining. :-(

The patrol drones much quicker to investigate activity but to compensate there are now "drone alert" indicators in your HUD, so that's a help.

The two drones in the first reinforcement wave are armoured and you need to destroy that shell before getting through to the drone itself. Effectively you have to destroy four objects, two of which shoot back.

There is no longer a countdown timer "wheel" to show when the next wave will spawn. The first reinforcement wave stays on you until (a) you die, (b) they die, or (c) you break contact well enough and long enough for them to quit looking.

(c) is the preferred outcome. If (b) then another, stronger wave swoops in. Repeat the options until you can get away from them. Option (c) is the only survivable outcome, as far as I can tell.

I don't know what happens if all of the level 5 sentinels are destroyed; they may just keep spawning forever. There is no more "kill the drones and the one walker at level 4 and then all the sentinels stop spawining on that planet until you reload a save or leave."

The barrels which the drones drop contain rounds for the boltcaster and power for your personal shield.

Jump in, the supercooled liquid which looks like water but it's at -65C is fine!
It seems like my initial post regarding being relentlessly chased by sentinels is over (I hope). This must be due to the latest 1.55 update.
