Is anyone else suffering from repeated, frequent crashes?

I 'm running this on a somewhat decent rig with 3600x AMD, 32GB RAM, GTX1060 6GB on WIN10, and still the game crashes every 30 minutes.

Tried the following with no effect:
Update GPU drivers
Install DirectX9c (just in case)
Reinstall game
Running the game with disabled full screen optimization and as an admin
Deleting ShaderCache
Deleting some user settings suggested at hellogames site
Repairing the game installation (many times)

Am I alone? is everybody else enjoying a crash free experience?
Anyone has any insight into this issue?

I'm running with an i7-3770K CPU w/16 GB and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB (I think) on Win10, so broadly similar to your setup. No crashing here.

Look at the reports from the Win10 Reliability Monitor. Those may give additional details or hints as to what is causing the problem.
Laptop Dell G7 7590 : Win 10 x64
CPU 9th Gen' Core I7 9750H <= 4.5ghz,
GPU NVidia Geforce GTX 1650, VRAM 4gb GDDR5,
RAM Corsair Vengeance 32gb (2x16gb Dual Channel) DDR4 2666mhz,
Samsung 970 Evo Plus M.2 NVME 500gb + Dell 512gb SSDs' (both Internal)

Crash free here for about 3 years (had less capable laptops before this one which were ok too).

Early days of development of NMS were a bit troublesome for AMD CPU's, and again also for AMD CPUs when they changed the game over to Vulkan API, but I am pretty sure Hellogames addressed all the AMD issues, still maybe worth putting in a decent report including system spec / DXDiag / Vulkaninfo (see the post linked below at afkmods) / what you are doing / if you have multiplayer / if you are using VR

Submit reports here - https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Also have a look over this post - https://www.afkmods.com/index.php?/topic/5742-no-mans-sky-general-performance-tips/

Some of that may help, worst case if you get frequent crashes HG do prioritise crash reports so maybe they will get to it in the next update.

Edit : If your troubles started recently apparently there have been some windows updates which are causing gamers lag and occasional CTDs (depending on your game settings too I guess if you are pushing things a bit high). Microsoft have been working on the issues caused - https://www.techradar.com/uk/news/windows-10-gets-a-fix-for-bug-that-caused-stuttering-or-worse-in-games

I have read this Site. Great Job. Some comments:

1. Your hints to Video and Graphic settings are valuable. Will try some changes -> look forward for this.

2. legacy/old files: On my installation, NMS write constantly on the CACHE-path in ~AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS\DefaultUser\. The files can be erased before or after a session, in a new session although 5+ files are written.

3. TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML: I have had stutterings, reproducible i.e. after an visit on a Giant Archive. I have changed my Settings for "NumHighThreads" to value="7" and "NumLowThreads" value="1" (was before "3" and "4" or so). In consequence, i had no stuttering anymore. But the time for teleporting had heavly increased. This is patched from HG in one of the latest patches. See also "https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/k6ooh5/the_stutter_is_so_bad_game_is_unplayable_a_quick/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share" - Point 3.

Thanks for your tips.

Thank you, I have been playing NMS since day 1 and have upgraded my laptop three times in that period with increasing capability, so its mostly geared toward similar spec laptops with less motherboard data transmission bandwidth between the chips, but also tried to keep it as good general advice for most PCs. I did a reboot of the topic after HG changed the game over to Vulkan API, but not much needed changing.

Its been a while since I checked, but it seems HG have changed something since I looked at this, I currently have 80 files in my cache folder. At one time it was not generating any more but it seems something has made them necessary again. Thanks for the heads up, will review / amend as necessary what I said there. Edit: Done, reworded a bit and also included a new JSON file which now gets stored in the Cache folder.

Yeah I know its a bit subjective this one, although I said I could not corroborate the claims others have made, after some of my experiments things did improve .. but only for a short while (its like the opposite effect of removing all the cache files which makes the game stutter for a day or two until whatever is necessary in the cache gets generated again then the game becomes all nice and smooth again), a few days later and the average game experience degraded to worse than before I made changes, and so after changing them back to the defaults I get better overall performance by sticking with Hellogames idea of how they should be set.
Honestly I think I would be better off removing that part of the post, for anyone who is technical and knows it improves their experience for their machine for sure, they are not going to change their minds. I put it up with the thought that newbies may have followed other advice and later if things got worse as in my case they may well be scratching their heads as to what went wrong and forget to change these settings back to defaults .. But really thinking about it anyone who is in that bracket and have not tried changing these settings, may go off looking for such posts and do it anyway.
So I think I had better remove it. Edit : Done

Anyway //offtopic :)

With some help from GOG stuff I finally figured out the problem.
My BIOS had a default option of boosting CPU on demand. Now I don't know if it is that the game can't handle overclocking or that the CPU was flirting too close to throttling temperatures (76 C), but as soon as I disabled this feature and renewed thermal paste, I have only had one crash in over 48 hours.

Thanks to all for pitching in!
Aha, my CPU boosts on demand too between a range of 2.6-4.5ghz, and motherboard voltages adapt accordingly respecting the factory tolerances for my machine.

I don't do any overclocking though, its best to have a bit of an overhead margin for games + OS combined pushing demands on the system a bit more than expected occasionally.
It would be sooooo awesome if people wrote the solution to their issues, not just solved.. i'm having serious issue as well, game freezing when exiting my plane. Every single time.
Verified instal, shadercache is empty, deleted xml with settings to reset to default, no change no luck. Last time i went from anomaly to space station in the same system, exited my rocket, bzzz bzzzz waiting, ok fine exited, now all of a sudden i'm out of space station on its roof, oxygen low.. alt f4.

The fix outlined in this Reddit post did the trick for me to cure the post-Expeditions stuttering / frame-rate issues. May be worth a try. Also, running the verify/fix installation routine from the GoG app may help.

this seems to have helped, now im chasing capital ship in battle from an autosave without hickups, thank you very much for pointing it out to me.
I have been having a problem where the game will freeze every so often. I can hear the game running in the background, ie. if I push W I can here my avatar walk forward, etc. Seems to happen once just about every time I play. I use task manager to exit out of the game and it shows my memory use for the game at over 4500 MB each time. If I then restart the game, it plays pretty well for quite some time. I don't play for long periods anyway, because my laptop gets very hot, even with a good cooling pad.

Your laptop getting very hot even with a cooling pad is probably a good indicator as to what is going on.

With laptops especially you need to know your machine can run the game and is at least ABOVE minimum specifications for the game (given on the GOG NMS Page), in ALL RESPECTS.

https://www.gog.com/game/no_mans_sky

Tolerances for temperature inside the confined space of a laptop are not very good, if you are running a game and the machine is running hot all the time, its only a matter of time before things start going badly wrong = Freezes, Crashes, or worse the solder on the back of a CPU or GPU will heat up beyond its tolerances, expanding and contracting more than they are supposed to and melt / crack, leaving you with a dead machine and a very expensive fix.

Note also : When game devs provide the mimimum specifications for a Graphics card, they are talking about PC (ie Desktop PC) not Laptops. Desktop PC Graphics cards always have ..
Better cooling.
More pipelines
.. Than a Laptops Mobile Graphics card with the same model number.

So for NMS which requires at a minimum a dedicated graphics card NVidia GTX 480 or AMD Radeon 7870, you would need a Mobile Graphics card at least a couple of years newer than those models, for NVidia I wouldn't recommend anything less than an NVidia Geforce 970M with no less than 3gb VRAM (I dont know a good M model number for the AMD Radeon comparison). I used to have a 970M in an old laptop when I started playing NMS in 2016, with all settings low it would run a bit warmer than usual but not hot, but even then I was not happy so upgraded.

Right now I have an NVidia Geforce 1650, with 4gb VRAM, but even with that I have to restrict the game settings to use less than 4gb, and at a lower screen resolution than the game sets .. And with Hellogames advertising that newer versions of the game in the future (at time of writing) will benefit from having a card with DLSS support, I am thinking of upgrading to a laptop with an NVidia RTX 3080 with at least 6gb VRAM (the mobile version of which in a laptop will probably equate to something like a Desktop RTX 2060 - I havent looked into it in any great detail yet).

Anyway probably more info than you bargained for :) but I would seriously look into why your laptop is running very hot even with a cooler, more than likely this is a good contender for the source of your issues (without knowing more details about your machine spec we cant assume anything else at the moment), and I don't think your issue is related to the subject of this topic (the OP problem we can only assume was due to overclocking a desktop machine).

Edit: If your laptop has just an IGPU (Intel Integrated Graphics Processing Unit) and does not have a DGPU (Dedicated Graphics Processing Unit, like NVidia or AMD), your machine is woefully inadequate for running this game.

I just took a look at my graphics: I have an ROG rig (bought in 2018) with NVIDIA Gforce with GTX 1050 ti. So, probably at the lower end of decent. I do love laptops for their convenience and the fact that I can play in comfort instead of at a desk on an office chair (since I sit in one all day at work), but they are notoriously hard to clean the cat hair out of. I suppose since it's 3 years old I should probably upgrade to my 3rd Asus. *sigh*
