Paul31286: Just in case this isn't completely clear:

1. This is a single-player game, as confirmed by the lead dev here: https://twitter.com/NoMansSky/status/762688708764135425

2. There is an offline mode, but playing offline will turn off shared discoveries, meaning you won't be able to see the names that other players have given to systems or planets.
100% perfect. I will never have to see planet N00b etc

In case you're interested, here's an article from two years ago about why the offline mode was implemented in the first place.

http://www.p4rgaming.com/no-mans-sky-offline-mode-created-after-developers-got-tired-of-finding-planets-named-after-penises/
“When we held the first semi-open beta for the game, I was pretty optimistic until I came across Cocktopia,” said Sean Murray, managing director, “It only got worse when I actually landed on Cocktopia and discovered an animal named Dicksucker33. Apparently, Dicksucker1 to Dicksucker32 were already taken.”

This is one of the first times I can say my gaming was saved my the stupidity and childishness of others.

:)

Reasons such as these is why I never EVER will play anything that has to be online. :)
Given the number of planets, etc, it's highly unlikely you'll come across much stuff that other players actually name, unless you go into the galaxy atlas, or whatever it's called, and deliberately try to find something. So to be honest, "OMG, online is so eeeevil! People are soooooo rude!" isn't really going to be an issue all that much, even for online players. I think that's more the reality of things.

People have already been spawning on discovered planets in the PS4 version, as well as seeing others' discoveries. Players have already stood together in the same space station and been unable to see each other.

I've been wondering this, you just confirmed it, thanks!

How about you point to a single video where two people are looking at each other in game. Heck even a post with folks saying they did it would be enough. Game has been out plenty of time for people to cross the entire galaxy much less meet someone who is in the same quadrant. It is simply not possible and not the design of their game.

1 galaxy out of a billion?

I really do not think you understand child the scope and size.

I'm assuming we all start out in the same galaxy with the same 18 Quintilian planets in it. If we are in separate galaxies then it is definitely single player, at least unless we gain the ability to cross into a common place.

I was pretty sure I heard that as soon as you leave a planet that it "resets" and the information was not stored permanently. That makes me guess that it would be a horrible waste to send all those tiny changes you made to the online servers since it is only temporary. So if you buddy landed right next to you he would see something totally different. (like if you just blasted a huge cave right where he had landed in his game). That on top of everything else also makes it highly unlikely you they designed it for you to see each other in real time.

You know what they same about assumptions...

Why don't you stick to what is known from interviews with developers

And you do the same please, about this single player game we know little about so far:)

Considering when you discover something it also mentions 'Euclid Galaxy'; there's most definitely reason to believe that people can move to other galaxies after hitting the centre.
I'm also believing the dev when he explicitly said 'it's not a multiplayer game', yet people are stubborn to the fact.

As for saving stuff on planets for later visits; I doubt that's even a possibility. The download size of the game is only under 3GB, and probably decompresses to something like 6-10GB after installation. Planets are only treated as a seed once they're left, and that seed won't change. If information were to be saved on our drives or even the servers it would be impossible to store the size of the assets for each individual change that's happened. Something would likely explode, or come to an extreme snail's pace until it fails to function. This also doesn't make sense as the game is DRM free, and the option to communicate with servers is just an option...

Yeah exactly, agree on both points. We shall be playing soon enough!

Assumptions assumptions...
If you asked instead of demanding... you have the answer.
I swear it is morons with down syndrome coming out of the wood works.

one of the countless IGN interviews they state only important data on planets will be saved. Rest will be recreated
by seed for other players that visit..

For example he goes on to say if you create a crater in the ground.

About multiplayer...
Wonder how players can grief... other players a "little" bit... odd
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0uYnwqlslU

When he says there is no multiplayer it means all this WoW garbage you are use to.
Everyone that is currently claiming stuff has not even spent six minutes to watch a single interview.

That have given massive information about the game just lazy twits are lazy.
