Hello,
finally I bought a freighter of 18 slots and I guess the things below are what you can do with it (or can't). Thank you very much to confirm / correct me :

- You can store into the freighter from space and from planet, but your freighter needs to be in the system
- You cannot transfer stored ressources from the freighter to your ship without speaking to Captain (OR YES?)
- You cannot hire NPCs and install them on your freighter like in your homebase (OR YES?)
- Some building possibilities are currently broken due to bugs in the game (1.13).

I'm concerned about the last point, also because I read this all the time in the Steam forum, especially about containers in freighters (and other items) that vanish after some time. So, should I not use them ?? If not with containers, how do you increase your slots in the freighter otherwise? I guess the Captain will give you an upgrade now and then.
But I have big problems with even simply placing containers: Although I can place a container when I have the 50 Iron and 2 Voltaic Cells, it will be placed in the wrong direction, his access circle not facing me, so I cannot use the E key to access (open) it, I have tried to rotate it before placing it but without success (I have placed an additional corridor before placing the '0' Container).

Apart from that, I find it good that you can Summon the freighter to be close to you, I think it will support you somewhat in space battles too.

Yes, insofar as one may summon the freighter from a planet or from your ship in space.

AFAIK, correct. It is a bit of a PITA, especially when shuffling items between your suit, your ship, and the freighter. At a minimum, the Captain ought to fob you off to the Supply Officer or the Chop's leading chief. ;-)

Never tried. AFAIK, once you've exhausted the knowledge of the four NPCs there's no reason to keep them around.

Probably. Rule 34: There are always more bugs. (No, wait, Rule 34 is something completely different!)

Since, as I understand it, you can only have containers 0:9 then installing a set of them on the ship seems to be a "Why bother?" proposition. Could save a bit of time, I guess, as compared to heading to the local space station and teleporting back to home base.

I haven't tried summoning it while engaged with pirate elements but have had it, by chance, nearby when a pirate attack commenced on an inbound freighter and support ships. Don't think that it contributed anything to the action.

Hi Dashiichi,

I now have resolved the 'placing a container' issue in the freighter: You need to place first 1 cubic room element where you want to place the container, then you can place it in the right direction (rotation is enabled), also the color can be changed.
From infos I have gathered, you can ALL IN ALL place only 1 time every container and not more. Every container has 5 slots of max. 1000 units / 10 units for normal/rare ressources and containers cannot be accessed remotely.

I will have to check it further, but I think 3-4 ships from my freighter are flying in the direction of a space battle if a battle starts and I have 'beforehand' summoned my freighter in the vicinity. I can land on my freighter during the battle, this is an advantage to buy additional shields from NPCs if your Iron supply is running out, but the traffic activity seems to be reduced during battles (so it may not be useful afterall).
I think once a battle in space has begun, you cannot summon your freighter in the battle area, the summon icon remains red, you'd have to leave the area first.
