Just to inform you: With Update 1.60 it seems that all storage containers disappeared. I had a full set of 10 built to keep all my stuff I need usually (using my freighter as base). They simply disappeared.
Better you don't install the update if you want to keep the freighter storage. Will be interesting to see if I will get the containers back on the next update. I miss goods for approx. 50 Million units...

They changed it so you don't build containers on freighters anymore. There are storage lockers/rooms instead. You should automatically get the blueprints and you should get your materials back. If that didn't happen, you should report it as a bug. Containers are still used at bases, and should function normally.

Yes, I also thought that my freighter containers had vanished until I saw the patch notes. Constructed the new storage rooms and all the contents were back and accessable again, e.g. I replicate these with containers on my base. Only minor downside is the rooms are not numbered like the containers.

That's a common complaint I've seen. People are suggesting either decals or color coding the rooms.

I can not put up the new storage rooms. I have read that they are in the submenu "storage", where the same numbered containers as always, but they are that, containers that if I put them on loading again disappear.

I don't know of a specific solution but there are a couple of things that you might try.

The standard "fix" for strange freighter behavior is to call the freighter to another location or even another system. That should cause the freighter to be regenerated and might enable the new style storage rooms to appear in your Storage menu.

If that doesn't work, try building any large room on the freighter. You don't need to keep the room after it's built, you just want to force the freighter to "rethink" its construction. If that is successful, try the storage rooms again.

Hmmm. Also try building any storage container at a planetary base. Perhaps even delete and reconstruct an existing room. Again, the idea is just to force the game to rethink storage unit behavior so that the new freighter storage rooms appear in your menu.

*Possibly* try claiming a new freighter. I hesitate to recommend this since it's somewhat of a pain do to this in the NEXT update. If you try this, be sure to delete anything you've built on the current freighter and move all of the items from the freighter to some other storage so that you don't lose anything important.

[ONLY TRUE FOR FREIGHTER ROOMS, NOT FOR BASE CONTAINERS IN 1.60, 1.61]

Here is what I know about the new storage ROOMS (not containters anymore !):

Pre-NEXT players who have completed all quests:
There is no difference except that containers are changed into rooms and that the '0' room cannot be placed because of a bug. That doesn't happen to all players.

NEXT players:
As for the pre-NEXT system, you must get the blueprints for the Storage Rooms by succeeding quest missions. What's special is that the Room '0' blueprint is given to you separately. Other room blueprints will then follow.

For all players:
Deleteing storage rooms will always keep what's inside, you risk nothing by deleting them and you get 100% of ressources back when deleting.
You cannot have a specific room both present in your freighter and in your planet base. If you have it on your freighter, then it will be greyed-out in your planet base items (and vice-versa).
Ignore the red message when placing a storage room, it's misleading, you can always place more storage rooms or in your planet base or in your freighter.

Hmm... As I understand it, you can have instances of every storage unit/room at every base, including freighter bases. I haven't tried multiple planetary bases but I do have all ten both at one ground base and in the freighter. They work pretty normally.

This is from a fresh start after the NEXT update dropped. I had previously had the "holey" storage units on the freighter, being careful not to fall through out of the freighter. Although it was tempting to try. ;-)

I still have to try erasing the containers. I have containers 10 containers in three bases (in different planets clear) so I will put everything on the freighter and spacecraft and remove them. I'll save the game and restart it to see if that's how the new rooms come out.

Have you updated the game correctly? Note that patches from backup downloads are NOT cummulative, so if you just did add the last one without any error message your game is screwed-up and you should re-install it.
Changes in the containers were made in 1.60 already. 1.61 is the latest currently. After updating to 1.60 I have NEVER seen any containers anymore, but that's easy because I didn't have anyone installed before patching.

I'm playing from before 1.60, I do not know if it would be 1.56 or .57
And I have the game to be updated only with the gog galaxy.
I imagine that all versions would be installed, right?
