Spirit of service?

Seriously, 'haters' won't change idea regardless of what happens as they look perfectly capable of finding endless sources of inspiration with or without external feed.
Those who still enjoy the game and try to keep positive, on the other hand, will benefit a lot if HG show they really care. And since I think they do, they should keep releasing patch notes...

...unless there are some legal implications in doing that.
Like "every patch note you write can and will be used against you in a court of law".

Are we already at this point?

Downloaded 1.09.1 patch and got virus alert. Deleted No Mans Sky!

Anyone else know about this latest "patch"?
What AV did you use (it is likely a false-positive)? I scan with a number of things and none reported a problem? Are you on Windows 10 perhaps, if so it might be the OS forcing the delete of an un-signed (non MS certified) .exe file?

But to put people at ease over that last post, the 1.09.1 patch is not a virus. It just changes the game exe. After the patch the NMS.exe file is smaller than it was previously, but still runs the game fine (even with all my mods).

In my case it 'seems' to reduce frame rate a little (always difficult to be sure with NMS), and not sure if this was that patches doing or not, but for the first time i found an Emeril column which had a navigation point over it (like when you use your binocular vision on a building and get that 'dot' in the compass) that i did not place there (you can not 'scan' features like mineral stacks etc).

That was not all, that particular marked Emeril column kept regenerating itself after i had left it to sell my haul. I returned again and most of it was back (i had mined it to the flat surface level and just had the base in the ground to extract), about 2/3rds of it was again above ground, but not a visual bug, the mineral was there, so i mined it again, filled up my carrying capacity then went to sell that and came back to check (the waypoint marker dot thing was still there), and it had regenerated some of it back again.

I decided at that point that this must be a bug and because i was not sure what was in the patch, wondered if it had introduced this 'easter-egg' into the game. With the possible small drop in fps and no patch notes to see what had been changed (to see if anything matched what i was seeing) i decided to revert back to the previous 1.09 exe.

So maybe something odd is in that update, but it is not a virus (scanned with plenty of tools, totally safe).

Exactly. At this point it seems like people trying to enjoy the product they paid for are getting crap treatment from the very company that should be doing all they can for everyone they've disappointed including those still supporting them in any way.

At this point I think I may have done more analysis of the patches and even QA than their own darn teams. Especially when it comes to cross-platform patch parity.

I had this happen very early on.

Not a graphical glitch (I know the graphical glitch that some will accuse it about. -- There exists the known graphical glitch of when you move far away a resource tower appears to reset but you get closer and it looks mined again.

ThorChild is not describing that issue as I had the same issue as ThorChild. On another world (much earlier version) I had an Emeril tower that would reset. I mined it multiple times till I was well into the 10s of millions of units.

How can i reverse back to 1.09? does GoG has a archive for older games versions?

My issues with NMS 1.09 patch, are gone with full version 1.09.1 No more strange install messages, asking for wrong stuff, that I was unable to get, no flight turning lag, well still some flight lag and no more garbled vendor list, thank goodness. I enjoy trade part, most. Reminds me of TW2000. Happy to not be on 1.07, anymore. Thank You GOG! Decided to start over, and relearn ONLY one language, to open up the atlas language later and to wherever the end game. Seems to be a path now, that there is neg rep. Guess Ill try Korvax rep, this time.

It depends when you downloaded from GoG (maybe Galaxy version has the ability to use older file versions?). My version of the GoG version is based on the 1.07 version as that was what was current when i downloaded it.

If you download it now you get the latest version (v1.09.1). So it depends on when you downloaded it.

----------------

I unistalled and then reinstalled to check out the latest patch version, and it might have been my mods causing the issues i posted about earlier. With the default game (and the various niggles that i used mods to get around (lowflight/fast actions etc)) my fps is actually higher than it used to be (by just a few) and i have not seen any odd behaviour from marked infinite resource stacks.

Or as Red_Eagle_LXIX mentioned earlier the infinite resource tower might just be a bug from earlier versions?

At some point the mod makers will need to update their mods to run on the latest versions of NMS.

@birdbathscuba, glad you worked your issue out finally.

@ThorChild I don't use GoG Galaxy just download the raw game install files.. and now they only have the 1.09.1 game kit :(( i wann go back because i feel like something of substance got lost in the 1.09.1 patch in order for the game to run faster..and it does, OMG like i can now set every graphic seeting to the max and play with nice FPS! <3

BUUUUUT!! My cursor movement is erratic fast.. before the patch the sensitivity was default at 50/50 and was nice, but now in 1.09.1 is crazy fast even i lowered to 0/0 in game, the space feels the same as movement and quality, but the planet surfaces they have something missing as quality, example: just landed on this planet was mostly shadowy ground it had a lame low green glow and the buildings dark with no grown reflecting ..so artificial looking ewww bleh i had to quit the game, rebooted with all the graphics to the max ..and it was the same.., so now is fast but ugly i think. that why i wanna go back to 1.09 :(( slower but more nice looking

If you email GoG support they can probably provide you the 1.07 install files.

Pretty sure I have seen similar things mentioned in the past about game install files here on GoG. Great folks on the team.

Cool, i'll try. TY ^_^
What mouse brand/model. Some gamer types, have FPS profiles vs. RTS profiles. My razer does, and sometimes I nudge that reset accidently button. Also if its a laser, it might not have all lasers on. That will lag it, and cause your prob.

Also, you might ask HG for a list of all, user settings flags, to enter manually. This is a horrible port, with little in the way of configuration features. The setting files open in wordpad, even tho, they say... .xml, good luck. Should you hard code the settings, make sure to save orig, file. If you do get a response, plz post the list of all possible ui, graphic, config flags, for rest of us.

I was stuck using 1.07, for a long time. 1.09 is fun, because there is repurcutions for neg reputation. Not just neg limbo rep, its actually an achievement now, to piss the beakheads off. That smells, fun!

Speaking of smells. The fauna turd critters, sure does not spell, fun. There needs a mod to increase turd size, with a limited inv, what was that knucklehead Sean Murray thinking, when he singlehandedly maked turd piles 1-12u in size. Doh! Big criiters plop same shit as little. Some lil ones poop bigger crystals than themselves. Bad design there.

Hope someone that knows him mentions that. Take care. Bye. birdbathscuba

Have the same problem with a gamepad on xinput, so no, not dependent on anything specific.

The stacking "exploit" is also finally gone. The game now happily skips rendering the ground if there's something else going on. And another set of weird light-problems turned up. Performance is "trade slightly increased second lod and shorter first lod for marginally increased fps".

So yeah. Really great.

Seriously - what the hell are they doing?
So, I've been away for almost three weeks, and updated from the experimental patch to 1.09.1 this morning. I did not change anything else (graphics, monitor settings, etc.). There are definitely some changes, some subtle and some not.

I immediately noticed everything seemed a little sharper and even a little brighter...maybe they dialed down the wierd filtering effect? It now almost looks CGI-cartoony (similar to Borderlands??). I have new buildings as well...actually, just some additional variations and colors. Whereas before all my stations were white/silver with red accents, now there are blues and golds. They seem more detailed as well.

As for performance, I definitely have more frame lag in spots, whereas before I almost never had any lag (I'm on a 2-year old Alienware with a r9 270 video card and i5 processor, so it's not a powerhouse by any means). However, there are moments when I am doing something and it almost feels artificially sped up and too fast. Also, the terrain rendering seems to be slower when I am flying around. Buildings and trees literally pop-up almost underneath me.

I've only played for a few minutes, so I'm withholding judgement for now...but the frame lag thing is starting to get to me. Has anyone else experienced the same things? Sometimes, from the way people talk here, it seems we are playing very different versions of the same game.

Good question. I was having grass cover render backwards (like start in the distance and arrive at my feet) until i got rid of all my mods and did a fresh install (i needed to do that anyway to test some mods i was working on). After that fresh install (plus adding the v.109 and v1.09.1 updates my downloaded NMS files require) the weird lod/grass render issue went away. I'm still not 100% on what really has changed (patch notes please HG!), but i suppose performance is more or less where it was pre the latest patch, sometimes smoother sometimes not so much?
