Did we ever get multiplayer support for the GOG version of No Man's Sky NEXT? The last time I checked, it was not available and wasn't going to be available.

Based on that I presume that GOG isn't going to bother with supporting No Man's Sky Online either, but I really hope they prove me wrong and give me a reason to install the game and possibly buy multiplayer games from their site again (until then, I'm probably going to go back to buying from Steam).

True that. The current release version is 1.77_GOG_MP.

The multiplayer functionality on GOG is, AFAIK, identical to what is available from other vendors and on other platforms. The interaction is still stovepiped; PS4, Steam, XBox, and GOG can only access multiplayer within their respective communities.
This really needs to be addressed, by GOG or the devs. Are the platforms going to link up, or not, in Beyond? Right now, Steam and GOG can't play together. If the Beyond update indeed brings massive multiplayer, but the communities are still separated, I'd like to know in advance, so I can find and buy a discount Steam copy, because the community is much larger and more active. I just don't want to be surprised by another "Oh, you're on GOG? Yeah, wait 6 months, maybe you can play Beyond then", which is what we got with Next update.
Nice :)

I just hope for 2 things:

- new patch unfucks my world and gives me back reason to engage in the obviously tons of effort put into building stuff on one and exploring said world.

- the arrival of a new race for avatar customization: *ominous music playing* the female

Everything else would be a bonus.
I'm looking forward to more info on what the other two major components are. I don't give a crap about NMS online, so I'mm hoping the other two parts have benefits for single player.
So, how is GOG gonna implement VR? rather curious to see that.. since most VR stuff is on Steam.
The 3rd 'major' feature will likely be ship customization, if you look at the picture of HG's announcement which shows an in-game sequence, the starship has a new shape with better cockpit visibility. I think to accomodate the new VR feature cockpits must be redone anyway, so it's easy to combine it with a sort of ship modifier in-game.

I really hope this 3rd feature will be interesting, because i don't like MP or VR in particular, for me that's not game content, it's just a port.

I hope that this include the PC VR update that I was recently reading about; it is supposed to be a free update and I really don't want to have to repurchase the game on another platform just for VR.

GOG doesn't actually have to implement VR; there are several titles on GOG that work fine for me with SteamVR (I am using an HTC Vive). However, this does mean that SteamVR does need to be installed to use them (unless said games also support a non-VR mode, for example, The Solus Project).

I'm just hoping they also release the update for VR on GOG around the same time they do for Steam. I am pretty much under the assumption that developers are supporting their games across all platforms on which they have launched; however, I have seen some exceptions to this.

Yeah, some developers gave stupid excuses to not support VR on GOG. Something like taht somebody copuld consider the need of Steam VR/Open VR installation like a manner of DRM... because you need an steam account to install it.

It is like saying that installing the Nvidia drivers is a DRM because you need an Nvidia account.

Fortunately, mayority of developers have released VR games on GOG also:

- Overload
- Hellblade
- Monstrum
- Obduction
- Sublevel Zero Redux
- Everspace
- Mind: Path to Thalamus
- Descent (2019) (when release)
- The Solus Project
- ALice VR
- Pollen
- Surgeon simulator 2013 (not sure)

There are others that released their regular game on GOG, but not their VR version:

- Superhot (why not superhot VR?)
- The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
- Space Pirates and Zombies 2 (this is especially ridiculous, because the steam version, that supports VR, is DRM Free. You only need to overwrite the "globalgamemanagers" file and copy the VR plugins in the Plugins folder and...Voilá!! The GOG version in VR)

Technically the Beyond update looks like an very impressive undertaking which probably require a massive amount of work from HG.

Practically I do not see one thing that has anything remotely to do with the stuff I do or care for or want to see added/fixed to make me play NMS more often and less casual (and even less so after the paradise like visuals where changed on my chosen home-planet).

I see the effort they have to put in with the coming additions; but all I feel is "meh" *shrug*.

I suspect
1. NoMans Sky Online (Which I don`t really care about as I play SP.)
2. VR (hopefully on GOG too, no reason not to).
3....

3, I really do not know.
1. No Man's Sky Online
2. Vulkan
3. VR

Vulkan is not one of the pillars.
