Starting to wonder if these have been forgotten about.

NMS releases are now at 3.13

In the past it was often that we had to wait up to two week until we got the patch.
Sometimes the patches were added to GOG very quick, sometimes it takes a while.
Talking to a dev of Kingdoms of Amalur (i know this is about NMS, but same problem) who also released the game on GOG said, that they can't control when the patches are uploaded on GOG for offline installers, because there's a GOG-Team that needs to do that.
All we can do is wait or complain about the GOG team, but i think they just have alot to do currently.

yeah its taking much longer than normal for this game to get the offline installers for v3.13.. hopefully they are added soon!

Am I the only one that finds their website horribly buggy?, I am f.e unable to scroll down on their website!

No problems for me. Just sometimes i need to reload their site, cause i get the error that the site is currently unavailable.

If you go look at the main forum here, you will find a few recent threads about offline installers not being updated as quickly as before. This does not seem to be a NMS only issue?

It's a little worrying. Sale to MS in-coming plus forced client usage going forward? Something is going on behind the scenes that i hope is not as concerning as it could be, hopefully just 'pandemic issues' and not a BIG change for GOG and what GOG has always been about (DRM free games). This is just one of the conspiricy theories doing the rounds over the slow down in updating offline installers ;)

It's worrying indeed. The focus seems to shift to yet another service, aka Galaxy. You're slowly getting sucked into "needing" Galaxy:

- Online features require Galaxy
- Quick updates require Galaxy

So it's a subtle shift but still a bad one because users of the offline installers are already second class citizens at this point.

Let me tell you 2 things:

1.)
If all would stop purchasing something, the only thing that would happen is that either GOG would get bankrupt or change even more into the direction steam does, because they have no financial problems. And then we have no big DRM free player anymore.

2.)
The thing about the specific online features mentioned here (Quicksilver store and Daily Quests) have nothing to do with GOG. It's not that GOG hides those features from the offline players, no.
Those features NEED a online connection, because the Daily & Weekly Quests are added manually by Hello Games (The devs of NMS).
Same for the Quicksilver Store. The Quicksilver Store updates regarding to the values of the community goal. Those values are also needed to be downloaded from the Server.

Of course Hello Games could make the game so that even a offline version would download those values from a server. But don't you think the people would then start blaming Hello Games or GOG for releasing a offline version of a game that connects to a online server without permission?
Also it is more complicated for the Devs to set this up, then to use a existing system like GOG Galaxy. Hello Games is not a AAA Developer, they are a small indie team, even if their game isn't.

So if you want to blame someone for missing features in a OFFLINE verison, that .. well won't contain ONLINE features, then you should blame Hello Games, but as i wrote above, i couldn't support you when doing that.

Isn´t "Need a online connection" a bit over the top given that you can turn these on for offline save with the save editor.

Also the so called Need that you mention is how everything was made by hello games, so they made something that doesn´t need to be online to be required to be online, f.e why do I need to be online to get usage of the living ship update, there is no way to get the living ship unless you go online, are you saying there was no other way to implement it so offline players could use it also?

You don't turn those values on if you use the save editor. You "fake" them, because you can enter any value you want. You can even enter higher values to get things, that aren't even unlocked by the community yet.
Also you CAN'T add Weekly Quests by using the save editor, those are the manual added quests i mentioned that need a ONLINE connection to the server.
Also if you want to do daily quests by using the save editor, you have to change the values again and again every few days.

You have to understand that the living ship is bought in the quicksilver store.
The main thing to get Quicksilver is doing daily quests. For those you need the online connection, or using the save editor over and over again.
But in case that you don't want to use a save editor, they would be able to set the quicksilver so that you can buy the living ship, yes. But you would never have enough quicksilver to do so. You don't earn 3.200 quicksilver (the cost of one), if you don't use the save editor to enable daily quests, because you can't get that much quicksilver by playing only the campaign, and so far, there's no other way to get quicksilver than doing daily/weekly quests.
So if HelloGames would change that, everyone who is not using the save editor would feel a bit teased, because there would be so many things in the quicksilver store that they never can buy.

And to be honest: You don't need to have a living ship to play this game. So GOG does everything right and mentioned, that only some part of the game isn't available if you play offline.
The decision to handle it this way, is up to Hello Games.

Fake, turn it on, doesn´t really matter what it is called, the result is the same, you have access to the quicksilver store with items only available online.

I do understand that, I am saying it is not something that needs to be online only. There is nothing about the living ship that makes being online a requirement (Besides Hello games deciding it is).

True, I am not blaming gog here, this is Hello games that is forcing users to be online, and yes the text from gog does explain that to some degree.

Well the items are already in the game, its not the items that are available online. It is the number (of the community goal) that gets downloaded from the server.

That's true. It's Hello Games decision to make the living ship available in the quicksilver store, only, and e.g. not get a egg as loot somewhere else.

Unfortunately that was only during the "Halloween" Update. Since the "Next-Gen" Update you get no quicksilver in derelict freighters anymore.

Of course Living Ship and other things try to force the player to be online. It is because the strategy of Hello Games. They still sell their game for full price, as 4 years ago. If there won't be any new free content, they couldn't sell it for that price anymore.

By forcing or making it more attractive for players to be online, they also get the new content and keep playing longer. They also create a community by doing this and thats also another thing to keep players playing the game.
Noone has to like that strategy, but sometimes you have to be a bit aggressive if you want to be successfull.
Especially for indie devs that have just a few (or even just a single) game, its a big risk.

So, first of all, it worked (very) well with GOG for years without Galaxy, online requirements and whatsoever. They cash 30% of every sale - just do the math. They could, with their customer base, enforce what they promised. But, recently, more and more publisher stretch these lines thin. And to push GOG back to what we expect - games with offline installer which are not silently connecting to AWS servers during gameplay (read my recent discoveries which where verified by others) etc, they need to feel it to make their contract partners (publishers) behave. Complaining doesn't change a company - cash (or no cash) does. This is how it works.

2nd, its not only the Quicksilver-Store, and even that could easily being implemented to work with an approximated model regarding the performance of that one player. But I don't care for the Quicksilver. Its everything else that's withhold. Like the access to the Living Ships etc. Its more and more cut off, even thou there is no valid reason except their wish to get everyone to the (DRM)-always-online incl. data-sucking.

It's a free world. Support this and see where it will get you - I will not. If I can't trust them to hand me a fully accessible game under the promised conditions, I'm out.
