Hi all,

Wanted to play NMS tonight as I have had little time for gaming in the last few weeks.

As I want to keep backups of the offline version of NMS files, I first logged in to GOG and did the latest DL.

I then started GOG Galaxy and got the latest NMS patch DL and install.

Through GOG Galaxy, I started playing NMS and saw my in game name was,as expected, my GOG name. However, I did not look at online status (bottom left menu screen) .

After a while exploring, went to discoveries page to name / log things found. I noticed then that the status message read:

'You have lost connection to online services'

I tried shutting down and restarting game and GOG Galaxy and also tried restarting PC - no luck in either case and still game shows the lost connection message.

As can be shown by my sending this post, my PC is online - as it has been when playing NMS.

So! Is GOG Galaxy offline (for NMS) or is this a HG issue?

What's the point of buying a game with online features if we cannot access those features (using online version)?

TLDR; NMS using online version through GOG Galaxy will not connect and only gives lost connection message.

EDIT: Tidy up!

EDIT: Further info; when starting NMS again through Galaxy, was returned to a previous save point and all progress lost!

Don't work for GOG obviously, but in my opinion this lands squarely on HG. I run the non-Galaxy version. In beginning (I've had game since PC release), intermittent connections. After week or so, connection was steady. For the past 5 days (since Sat. morning), have had zero connections to their online services.

My guess (and unfortunately HG does not have the finest communication at the moment) is that their server(s) finally crushed under everybody's uploads. I would further guess they're trying to get a more stout server solution in place.

Supposedly they hired a PR team/dept/what-have-you...one would think they'd, well, get straight to work, especially given how vocal the whole community has been. It's more than a little laughable they've yet to communicate re: these outages, going on 5 days now.
Thanks for the answer.

I'll try NMS again a littile later today and see how it goes!

Having not used the game recently, was not aware of ongoing connect / disconnect issue. Hopefully it will be sorted soon.

Have sent a report to HG through their website. Not that I expect a reply any time soon.

Yeah, over the weekend noticed reports here on GOG forums as well as over at Steam. Started Sat. morning for me.
2 theories,

1- Servers are crash and burning
2- Someone is trying to hack HG servers (for whoever knows what).

Had connectivity all day, as soon as evening started, nada, zilch,
anyway, my $.02
I'm about to try again today and will also take a look at social media for any info - good or bad - about the issue.

Thanks for the replies.
I've noticed that booting up Windows and starting the game the first time, it is online with no issues. But as soon as I exit the game and come back later (seconds later, minutes later, etc.) then it is offline again. Only a reboot fixes the offline issue. It seems as though the server is limiting login by attempts and is very strict on it for game sessions.

Wow, nice to know, since i log on and off a lot, it seems the game is always offline, maybe this is why. Thanks for the info, will try restarting windows next time.
