I posted this in the thread about all this in the main forum:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/no_mans_sky_next_update_now_live_08fb8/post159 This was the text:
I love GOG and NMS enough to have put in some effort and had my thread on modding NMS become a stickied/topped thread in the NMS forum. I always like to help anyone that comes to the NMS forum with questions, either with answers or dry humour if i have no answers! :)
I was NOT expecting this as i logged out of GOG yesterday, maybe the usual delay in getting an NMS update later than Steam (and seeing the usual chorus of people threatening to leave GOG for Steam etc - happens every single update for NMS!), but not a COMPLETE lack of comparative functionality over the most talked about aspect of the NEXT update!
That is something out of left-field!
So GOG users have a year (or so) or maybe never (these things can happen!) to see parity with the other platforms (Xbox/PS4/Steam). I completely understand the frustration and anger that many people are going to vent over this, we gamers are the least patient and understanding of creatures! But i have answers/suggestions for all involved :)
For the GOG NMS user: Don't let this disappointment define you. Don't let the levels of toxicity in you rise to the levels we saw over the original release of NMS all those years ago. And the reason why is quite simple, it is not good for your health (Physical or Mental). NMS is just a game. So keep that in mind while we work out what to do going forward :)
For GOG and Hello Games: Would not like to be in your guys shoes, but there is hope :)
Let people use GOG connect for NMS, so those that really must play MP (as promised) can transfer their GOG purchase to their Steam accounts and play the game they paid for here, help ease the levels of toxicity :)
For Hello Games: Steam has been designed to 'lock' you into it, either as a user or developer! As a small team you need to be aware of that as you build systems in your games that relay on Steam. Try to avoid those as much as possible to keep your games as platform agnostic as possible.

Good luck to all involved, the angry frustrated GOG user and both teams at GOG and Hello Games. We can get through this by making the right decisions :)
And thanks for Hello Games for carrying on to support and improve NMS. NEXT deserves to be huge for you guys and I look forward to the future development of NMS.
