Extantient: and thats a huge issue when a global release date was announced weeks or months before the scheduled release.

the simple fact is that if we had all bought it on steam, this wouldnt be an issue, therefor its a problem with GOG, regardless of if there is a breakdown between HG and GOG, they have had months to work it out and tell us if there was any issues - that alone is enough for me to never even look at the GOG website again.

i have emailed HG and GOG - as we all know, they arent in the mood for talking.

apparently not.

Jorendo: Are you for real right now? They had months to inform you if the patch was gonna be released or not today? Come on get real please. If something happened today, how the heck could they have known that 2 weeks ago, let alone 50 years ago (yeah i'm overreacting now too). I don't know, are you able to peer in the future. And i don't know if you know how game development works, but it's not like the NEXT patch has been out for months and just laying aorund till they find a nice date to publish it. Steam and such probably didn't even get it till today either, or yesterday. Hell even steam released the patch later then they normally release things.

Fine if you are angry and upset, but try to keep it real and don't overreact with things that make no sense what so ever. No they didn't had months of time to prepare this, that is not how game development and releases work.
no, theyve had months to let us know if it was even coming, to update the banners and videos on the page, to post ANYwhere on their website or social media. Of course shit happens, thats a given - im well aware that issues can come up in programming for different platforms, but im also 100% certain that the entire staff at GOG didnt all of a sudden break their fingers when they tried to make an update.

All it would take is a single tweet - "Patch coming, sit tight" would be enough for most people. - even just having NO MANS SKY NEXT on the website, would be something.

but no. nothing.

that means its an issue with GOG. HG doesnt run GOG's website or media profiles.

Jorendo: People tend to overreacted and always shout "I WILL NEVER EVER BUY HERE AGAIN!" but the reallity is, 99% of the people who shout that, will remain buying things here anyway. That's just how it works, when it's cheaper here or don't want DRM, they will come back anyway. Maybe for a few weeks they won't buy a thing here, but most people will remain a customer here anyway.
This is the only game ive ever bought on GOG specifically because it was DRM free - no i wont be buying anything else from them.

Well, consider this:

GoG only updated 'Lock's Quest' (29/06/2018) sensibly one year later after Steam (16/06/2017) So.......No Man's GoG I guess.

Bummer!

EDIT: Most likely it was the the Multiplayer part that delayed the update here on GoG. Still, that 'Lock's Quest' update...I ended up buying that game on STEAM because of this.

Also, don't forget to see that NoClip documentary on Youtube about GoG. GoG does go the extra mile, in spite of...delays. :-)

In an ideal world we would get releases at the same time. But GOG started out on another promise with other motives. GOG started as retro platform to feature and preserve old games, less good ones and real classics. Hence "Good Old Games", not "New Games" or triple-A titles. Plus the promise of DRM-free content.
I have no figures but GOG certainly started out as a niché platform. I don't know what user numbers GOG has compared to Steam; but Steam is the veteran online game download big player which certainly dictactes the (financial) priorities of most devs.

And judging from the Facebook postings in the official group below the NEXT announcement there are over 700 comments and growing; no chance to read all but among praise there are several people being pissed because of issues they have primarily about lost progress and such (frightning me the most).
So it might even be beneficial to get a "hotfixed" version ...

I have a bad feeling about this ... though tempting to see/experience it maybe we might be better off keeping the "old" traditional version ...

This is one thing I totally hate about online games - I want to play games at my own pace and not losing progress or chances or events because private or work life prevented me from doing so. Elite Dangerous is a good example - all the intriguing barnacles/Thargoid stuff missed because I just hadn't the time to get into the game during the last year.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is in our and gog.com's mutual benefit if we calmly but firmly point out to the problem. They do want their business, we do want our game.

To this end, i created the following topic in the game's main subreddit: reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/91ltma/please_help_us_next_is_still_not_available_for/ . Please support me there, and please stay grown-up about it.

Thanks!
I was finally going to create a twitter account to add my query to everyone elses in the hope of provoking a response, but apparantly you need a phone number to make a twitter account and I don't give that out to companies willy nilly.

So I guess I am stuck here, just annoyed at the silence.

In fact the silence after they crowed and announced every other stage of the release feels obnoxious now.

And while mocking us posting pretty pictures on the official Twitter.
And Sean Murray's still retweeting as of a minute ago...ffs.

Presumably, the majority of customers have it already. Better to emphasize the good news and bury the bad.
Hopefully they (who ever "they" entails) are working on it in this silence.
I was actually hyped this time. I thought I'd come home from a really shitty day of work and be able to experience this game a bit more closer to how it was originally meant to be.

Kind of let down, again. :(

Why can't GoG receive the same treatment as the other platforms... I mean, I know, money, most of the customers are on steam, but still... could someone please think of the children?
I am seeing some comments in some main forums that Sean abandoned the GOG version. That he will not be updating the GOG version.... While I am not inclined to believe that at face value.... I am starting to wonder what the hell he is doing. That being said my steam version is buggy as hell, missing ships, cant warp etc. basically all of the original bugs being returned from the first versions just like HG is notorious for doing.

We may not be missing much here yet.......

The AAA industry in general is also very pro-DRM, For often false reasons, which doesn't help either.
Finally! Next download has started
At least they got round to it in the end!
high rated
Well it was late in getting to us, but it was still faster than anything the government has planned to do. Well other than create new taxes.
