No specifics including a time frame but there was an update today on the No Man's Sky website. The last paragraph mentions that some updates will be coming.

There are a lot of complaints about not connecting to or maintaining the connection to Discovery Servers. Problems with Discovery Servers have been occurring periodically since the initial release. Usually when it is a major problem with the servers the Galactic Atlas cannot connect to data but that seems to be working. Of course, they might have reconfigured things with the Galactic Atlas.

I don't trust the update information posted on Steam. It usually is 1) a wrong guess, 2) an attempt to start a rumor or, 3) users that cannot differentiate between a Steam update as opposed to a real update from Hello Games.
I think we have to wait some days - perhaps the new update will come next week . First launch of NMS was at 9th August 2016. - So they will do it 5 years later at the same date? A new update will come - this was a message in the last development update: "The team is currently working on a number of exciting things for No Man’s Sky, and we look forward to sharing more news soon!" https://www.nomanssky.com/2021/07/prisms-development-update/

I check always this page, you can see an internal update some weeks ago, but no public update till now:

:)
Cannot change the title but new update is named Frontiers. No date or specifics given

Video posted in NMS twitter but is "No Man's Sky 5th Anniversary Trailer" plus several more posts celebrating the console release. The PC version (obviously applies to GOG purchasers plus Steam) was not released until August 12, 2016.

My guess is access to additional universes to facilitate some amount of new variety -- and to allow room for more expansion in the future.

The Hyperspace Navigation Station number string currently incorporates a system's Portal address plus the number of the galaxy (Euclid = 00, Hilbert Dimension = 01, etc.) plus an additional two hex digits.

Maybe those are simply padding. Or, maybe, they're part of an expanded address string for one or more "universes" of 255 galaxies.

Parallel universes are somewhat consistent with Atlas lore as well as the observed "leakage" of other Interlopers into the present universe. So, maybe?
