The new update giving 4K graphics, faster loads, and massively improved visuals is coming November 10th.

The 'improved far terrain render distance' is the only thing in that update that interests me (a single player not connected gamer of NMS) and i use a mod for that currently which seems to work ok.

I'll still be waiting for them to make the SP game work like the MP game (in terms of access to the Nexus features and living ships requirements for some quest sutff etc) before updating.

Does GOG get updates at the same time Steam does? Apparently Steam will get their update today very soon.

Sometimes GOG gets it around the same time...sometimes, not. It's been a "wait and see" situation since release. Lately, we've gotten them quickly.

I don' t think this 270 MB download is the Next Generation update. I got this information from the Steam discussion forum.

Yep me too about 4 hours ago via GOG Galaxy, and I grabbed the Offline Manual Installers for v3.10 at the same time, good to see those getting a prompt update.

*Edit: OK, well there is an 11 GB file there now. Not sure if that's it or not. Strange that I don't have the same list as you.

Oh boy, the update is great for me -> play with 4k graphics with some options Ultra.

The things in the landscape are ready in wide view and in the near, no spawns of unawaited crap 3 yards on my feet, the details have grown in a good matter, walks have now less surprises.

In the frigate list (on freighter) now cross npc starships on the left half from view, i'm not sure, have you seen this before?
The whole graphic is better now, more color details and animation effects.

In my opinion the cpu and the gpu now a bit cooler -> lower noise from the PC.

I'm sorry for the players, who're haven't the hardware for this, for me is a great thing. And yes, only the 2xx MB-File is the update.

To clear things up:

The 270 mb is the next Generation update.
Based on what it added, this updated didn't needed to be larger.

Think of programming code: You can add alot of stuff to a game, new functions and so on, and this might not be more than 3 mb.

The 11 gb file someone mentioned is the full game.

I can go 1920x1080 in Ultra with the new update. Nice and all. (gforce 1660)

But I got a really weird bug (naturally, I would never be so mundane as to get an ordinary bug ;-)

I'm rockin' along enjoying the eye candy when up pops "community research tier whatever complete" and BOOM game crashes. The regular Windows mouse pointer appears and, after clicking around a bit, the desktop with the Sorry, application crashed dialog box.

100% repeatable (because I'll drop the brick on my toes several times to be sure that it really hurts, I guess).

Dialing back to High from Ultra fixes the problem.

Not reported to HG. Probably a local weirdness (other than self) and High settings are fine.
