styggron: Almost 2 weeks now and still can't get the game to start. (Yes I meet the specs, yes I did updates etc etc) just crashes to desktop.,
Not sure if I just want to just put it "on the shelf" and come back to it in 6-8 months or a year or start the refund process. :( I've only got a tiny bit more time to decide on this now.
You might be hurting yourself by not using Galaxy. You could still install the game manually then import it into galaxy and do the repair/check to make sure nothing differs from the download.
You could try to delete the contents of the "No Man's Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS" and "No Man's Sky\GAMEDATA\SHADERCACHE" if they are even populated yet (backup'em before just to be sure).
They might have gotten rid of the Visual C++ runtimes I can't see a dependency anymore. But the game uses XInput9 so you might download one of the old DirectX client web redistributables and try installing them.
And should you find the dump file (.dmp/.mdmp) via Application Eventlog (Event Viewer) on your disk you could post it so one of us or me could take a look at it (no warranties dumps sometimes have clear info but often they do not except for real experts).
Btw as a paying customer why not try contacting Hello Games support directly?
