When you buy a new multi-tool or starship, is the actual price you pay determined by the value of your current multi-tool/starship (i.e. is it the price minus the price of yours). The reason I ask is, I took a long time upgrading my current ship (it has no inventory left, all taken up by upgrades) and it would be a shame if it isn't worth anything.

Selling multitools seems cheaper if you remove your tools first. Buying a ship you loose all value and upgrades from the old one. Best to find grashed ships and scavange them. You gain materials that way.
Wait, how do you remove tools from multitools?

You "Dismantle" the upgrades for 1/2 the material it costs to build them. I believe it's center mouse button.
