Since the last update and 2 Verify / Repair attempts, I still have problems. Cannot access Signal Booster. Cannot craft antimatter (how much Chromatic Metal & Condensed Carbon do I need? it doesn't say in pinned recipe). Graphics Artifacts in caves where there used to be flying bugs and at station when ships come and go. Cannot seem to access Refiner. Cannot call Starship to my position. Cannot access Galactic Map though my Warp drive appears to be functional, but I ain't gonna waste fuel if I cannot craft Anitmatter (I can craft Antimatter container though).
I am afraid to unistall and reinstall game as I do not want to lose my credits etc. I can probably find the saved files on my HDD but..... And though I often play offline, I go online to sync, but it says I'm not synced either.
This is a bit frustrating, 'cause all was good before the update.
HELP, 'cause I cannot find good answers on the forums or in Help. If you have a good re-install routine that will preserve all my stuff please let me know. Kind of wished I had bought a standalone package then doing the online GOG purchase at this point.

What new update? There hasn't been one for several months with the next update scheduled or planned for Summer 2019. The last update was to v1.77 with a subsequent addition to finally add the multiplayer to GOG users although multiplayer causes major hassles and it appears that most users have disabled this "feature."

The signal booster must first be constructed and requires metal plating x1, sodium x15 and carbon nanotubes x1. After constructing you can then pick up the signal booster and carry it around. It is placed by selecting the option to build but it will be placed without using any materials. Same applies to certain other technologies like beacon and portable refiner. You must be careful to remember to pick these back up or you will have to replace items that you left behind.

There was no stand alone software for PC, it could only be downloaded.

You can find recipes, etc., at https://nomanssky.gamepedia.com

Are you using Windows 7? There is a connectivity problem due to changes in the programming and you have to update Window 7 for TLS1.1 which has posted in this forum several times as well as in Steam forums.

He's probably referring to the disc version (although I believe hat one's tied to Steam).

Infomorf, obviously, this isn't normal behavior with the GOG version. Can you post your system specs? Have you done any other updates on your rig lately (drivers, new software installs, etc)?

Yes I know, I bought NMS just before the update, played for a while with no problemo, then updated and have been unable to craft a signal booster ever since, or antimatter, or refiner, and have those funky artifacts. I'll see if I can disable multiplayer since I play solo. I have been using the recipes (or at least trying to) and know where to find them. I have Win10 which I have been happy with. And then there's there's the ship recall - ALL my HUD options in the suit are blanked out and unavailable. Your post is appreciated.

Steam doesn't sell discs, download distribution only. The console versions are available on disc and those can be purchased from various resellers.

Since you have ruled out not having the materials, blueprints, etc., then the possibility might be with a corrupted save. If you have been separately backing up saves then try reverting to one of those.

Have you tested your game installation by starting a new game in a new slot to see if things work? This would also test your previous saves.

Are you using any mods or did your current save use mods in the past? Older mods are rarely compatible with any developer issued updates to the game. If so, disable mods and restore the .txt file to see what happens. Different mods may also edit the same game file that other mods do creating incompatibilities.

I'm playing on Win10 as well, and have no issues, but I have not yet updated to the MP version. So I'm at base 1.77 without MP.

I'd first try what Chewy suggested and see if a new game shows the same issues. If it doesn't, then you've got a corrupted save. Do you have both manual and autosaves for the game with this issue? If so, do both show the same problem?

Anyway, try a new game and let us know what the results are.
Just remembered something else - did you use Galaxy to update? The patch is written to update stand-alone/off-line installs and problems can arise when mixing and matching the Galaxy client with stand-alone.

You sure about that, Chewy? As far as I'm aware the only difference when using the galaxy client to install is it puts a pointer in the game launcher/start icon to start Galaxy if it isn't running. The actual installed files are exactly the same (which is why you can just make a desktop shortcut from the installed game .exe to avoid launching Galaxy if you want).

Yes. That was posted in this back in 2016 (maybe early 2017) and I recall that even a GOG employee once responded on this but feel free to search this forum if you do not believe me. It is also possible that there have since been changes to avoid this problem.

Your problems are usually caused from having used mods in the past and still having left-over files of these mods in form of shaders or cache files that need to be removed. And even if you never did use any mods, these shader/cache files could get corrupted after a game crash or else. Do this repair kit:

Go in the game SHADERCACHE folder and delete everything inside;
go in your savegame 'cache' folder and delete everything inside;
if you have updated your GPU driver recently, then go in the game SETTINGS folder and delete the 3 files.

Restart and it should go fine again, unless your savegames are already corrupted, in this case the only remedy (apart from restarting the game) is using the NMS Save Editor for Java 8, load your savegame in the editor and save it without doing any modifications.
I hope this helps, cheers.
