Redownload the whole thing again, preferably without any Firewall running. You have a corrupt download. Then go offline and reinstall. You shouldn`t get the error any more.
..it's probably just pointing to the gog-installer from an earlier version. And the gog-updater is considerate enough to not delete files not in the manifest. Or optionally windows dislikes that confirmed program shortcuts are changed by external software (even if it does not care if a program deletes everything else).

Or could be aliens. In any case, the icon is in the main folder now. Or you can use the atlas eye in the .exe-file. And as long as nothing else is wrong than a wrong icon reference in the gog-installer, then you don't really need to reinstall.
I tryed the verify/repair thing and it said " no changes made " or something similar.
And if i reinstall, will it let me use the old save files?

Also. in the instalation folder. I have something named exactly like in the eroor. but it's and ICO file. not dll

As long as you remember NOT to delete your Saves when asked, they will still be there on a new install as long as you install in the same place as before.

I tried that. But it changes it just there. When launching the game the taskbar still shows no icon.
This happens sometimes when the "IconCache.db" from the Operation System is broken (C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\IconCache.db). Delete it, and afterward reboot your machine. Now, the Cache will rebuilt.

The Directory "AppData" is a hidden folder!

I found some IconCache files and they are here C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Microsoft/Windows/Explorer.

Are these the ones?

No, the name of the file is "IconCache.db", not the"thumbcache_xxxx.db" in the other path you posted.
"IconCache.db" is not a folder.

Unfortunately I can not post links here, but a quick search with Google can give you further information.

Yeah. I figured it is not a folder but a data base file but i can't find it in the path you posted. Thanks anyway. I'll start some search on google.

I also posted this question. I am have this problem as of the recent patch. the dll file is missing. I don't know if it is just a bad icon link and merely looks uggly now or some corruption going on under the actual hood. I hope the former and not the latter. I can launch the game but curious the icons disappear even after I reinstall after a clean uninstall.
