Will we get a manual? Having one would really help.

The game has no manual. My ps4 copy didn't even have a booklet. That side of the case was empty.

The manual should be procedurally generated while you play lol

Kidding aside, a nice PDF manual would have been great, kinda cheap not to that at least.
Some sort of getting started guide would be great. I' ve just tried it for the first time, I've looked at some pretty pictures but I've absolutely no idea how to actually play it. I get that I'm supposed to repair the spaceship, I've got one of the things I need in the inventory (I think) but clicking it, double clicking it, trying to drag it has no visible effect, I've no idea how to get the other bits or how to apply them if I do get them.

I agree they should have put out a manual, however most of the key presses needed I found it did say on the screens.

There are three things you can do from the inventory. Hover over an empty space and you will see the three options and what buttons to press.

Left click to install new technology
Press E to craft
Press X to transport items back and forth between suit and your ship.

To find the items you just need to explore a bit. I found that everything you need was relatively close by. You don't need to walk for hours to find anything early on.

Thank you for that information, justporter. I have now managed to repair the launch thrusters. The user interface is a bit strange but I'm getting used to it now.
Yes I can see it now - How to navigate an infinite maze with moving blocks and random spawns.

Secrets not meant for the timid:

1. How to speak ten thousand languages or less in three months time.

2. How to buy a ship by moving with the market, instead of against.

3. How to catalog over 100,000,000 quintillion plants and animal species.

4. How to mine resources before they spawn ninety light years out.

5. How not to invade a stellar cluster until you have achieved galactic overlord title.

6. How to knit infinite inventory pockets.

7. How to pillage, strip and mine the heck out of every location with a habitable zone.

8. How to smoke pot.

9. How to pull a Trump and buy out the galaxy.

10. etc etc
