Did you just use the newest patches ?
I usually load all the main install files in the newest version again, like here now 1.52.1, and run a full installation, into the same folder, just right over the older installation.
No problem for me right now, sorry.

GOG Galaxy seems to have been down for a bit, cannot connect to Galaxy.com servers. Wonder if this disconnect might have occurred while you were updating and perhaps this might have resulted in a corrupted installation. Did you use the Galaxy client to obtain the update?

You might consider submitting a support request to GOG.


I have automatic updates disabled as I always wait until there have been enough emergency patches issued to work out the fatal bugs that invariably plague a No Man's Sky update. It usually takes a week or two.

In my case, I'm still downloading NMS(I started the download before the 1.52.1 hotfix). The installation stopped because the GOG server was down. I shouted bloody Mary because I feared that I would have to re-download the whole thing again which would be a pain in the ass because of my weak internet speed. Luckily, my 43%download continued where it left off. But I swear to God, when the download is complete, which will take about 1-2 more days, and if something is corrupt and I must re-download the whole thing again, this will be the last time I deal with GOG.

I feel yer pain. Verizon DSL here. I hate it but I hate the local cable company more. ;-) It's fast enough for most things but big downloads are awful.

I have AT&T DSL. Like you said, it's fast enough for most things including low GB games but when it's about 4gb+, it can be a pain. Unfortunately for folks like us, games are increasing in size and worst of all, game companies are going digital only. Anyways, I hope my download goes well. I DON'T like surprises when I'm spending days downloading something.

Ok, I've just downloaded NMS. Took 3 1/2 days to complete. GOG Galaxy says that NMS is installed. The "play" button is green, I clicked it and nothing happens. Any ideas what I need to do from here? Thanks.


EDIT: Got it working with the verify and repair option. I guess it needed to update to the 1.52.1 hotfix. I was nervous because I thought it would download more gigs of data. Now that I FINALLY getting a taste of NMS after 2yrs of absence, the game looks very nice indeed but one thing I noticed is how poor is the performance. They need to fix that asap. I can run The Witcher 3 smoothly but not this game. And I suspect there is memory leaks in this game.

In addition to checking your usual graphic settings (and drivers, etc.) there's a tweak you can do to help encourage multithreading.

Go to your installation directory (...someplace...)\GOG Games\No Man's Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS and make a backup of TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML. Then search for and change the values for NumHighThreads and NumLowThreads both to "0" and save.

I'm running a not too new i7 box with a Geforce 1050 Ti (4 GB). No screamer by any current measure but it plays quite smoothly with mostly medium settings plus light shafts.

Thanks! I'll try that ini tweak when I get back home from work. I actually tweak that mxml file before and did what someone else suggested for the low/high threads. He said to put both on 4(since I have a quad core). Not only that didn't help but my gpu temperature went from the usual 73°c max to 89°c!! And the fan for some reason was stopped. I hope I didn't fuck up the fan.

Hi Dashiichi. I've just read your post regarding changing the values of NumHighThreads and NumLowThreads. I've just done this and NMS has gone from a staggering nightmare to pretty smooth, even when I put the graphics up to medium. I'm well chuffed with the result. I'm using an Alienware Alpha i5. Thanks for the tip.

I applied the ini tweaks and I don't know if I see a difference but at least the temperature of my pc is doing fine now. One thing I forgot to mention before is that in the first hour of play the fps is always smooth but after that it gets laggy. In my gaming experience, this is often a telltale sign of a memory leak, something which HG has acknowledged already.
