mikewithe: screen flickers for half a second and I'm right back on my desktop
Me too! Screen goes black for 0.2 seconds and then I'm back to desktop. NMS.exe won't launch properly although "installed successfully" (according to the GoG-wizard). I can launch the LanguageSetup, not the actual game. I tried re-installing but to no use.
I have the same problem :(

Updating the graphics drivers didn't help. Now I'm out of ideas what to try next...

I came looking for troubleshooting and only found disappointment. I will experiment and report back if I get it working.

Edit:

Found a way past the Hello Games screen but this isn't good news.

Followed instructions in this reddit thread:

Basically by emulating SSE4.1 we can determine the crashing is caused by a lack of SSE4.1 support.

If any of you are crashing after Hello Games appears, this may be the reason why. There isn't much you can do about it as the emulation makes it unplayable in terms of speed. You have to wait for Hello Games to add support for this.

I successfully loaded into the game but there was too much hitching and freezing to be an acceptable workaround.

... <program name unknown> Runtime Error!

anyone has a clue if this helps us? maybe look if you have the same message in these dlls?
Crashes during the white light.

Wishing now I just bought the game for my PS4
The game crashes on my pc too after the hello screen.

In the debug mode it says that i get the error: 0xC000001D: Illegal Instruction

So i think this is a cpu issue.
My CPU is: AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 630 Processor, 2800 MHz (64 Bit)

I think we have to wait for an update. I'll try the game on my laptop....
Just adding me to the list...
