No Man's Sky had it's 3.15 update yesterday, all 10 GB of it. The patch notes just said "improving stability", yet the whole game install is only 10.6 GB; so did they replace 95% of the files?!

Something's not right here. Anyone have any ideas?
The update itself is 1 GB. See the screenshot i attached.

The official patchnotes are:
Stability improvements on PC.
Resolution and performance for PSVR have been significantly improved when running on a PS5.
Fixed a rendering-related crash on PS5.
Xbox Series S in high quality mode now has the improved ultra settings introduced in the Next Generation Update.
Loading times on PS5 have been improved.
PS5 install size has been optimised.

Noone knows what Stability Improvements they made.

Also, HelloGames does not always write down everything that has changed.

It also might be that they added content for the Quicksilver store, that is just unlocked currently.

Well, my download was definitely 10 GB! I know that from how long it took to download! (Plus I saw it in front of my eyes!) :)

My Steam version update download was a little over 1 gig. My GOG version update download was 10 gig but my game folder is still 10 gig. I believe the GOG download was just a complete game redownload.

Probably. After downloading the 1GB offline patch, when applying, it also says that the update requires 1036 MB to install.
Be warned!

On Reddit reports some Users Problems: Bases go down in the ground, Space Stations and Bases will erased from the Teleporters List and new Crash Expiriences.

Wait for a few days, i wonder an Update 3.17 or so.
Before this update game was very playable, now stuttering. Nightmare ...

I believe you :) I just wanted to tell you that the update is only 1 GB. Maybe the whole game was re-downloaded because files were corrupted or because of a technical error on the part of Gog.

All good here. Same old PC, newly installed Win10 (yes, one of the last Win7 holdouts finally gave in to the inevitable). After installing GoG and NMS, the graphics settings defaulted to Ultra and the gameplay has been pretty smooth. No more glitches than before.

So, I guess I can't complain. Not that I won't complain ... ;-)
I am finding there is more to this update than meets the eye in the release notes, I reckon there have been some stealth fixes :

There were some legacy multi-tool weapon upgrade / icon mismatches before which have now been fixed.

Also discovered a long time missing upgrade for the Pulse drive, "Photonix Core" for those of us who pre-ordered the game, this was a nice little extra. It has been absent from the game for a few years. There was also a Multitool Boltcaster upgrade which was part of the Pre-order DLC which went missing at the same time, unfortunately I cant find any evidence of that being back in the game yet.

Screenshot - Before this update the place in the catalogue for the Photonix Core was just a blank space for those of us with the DLC installed - https://i.imgur.com/aykCJon.png

I have seen this before where they mention stability update for PC but dont detail all the changes that went in along with the stability rectifications.

Anyway, stealthy or otherwise its nice to see some very old issues solved. Wonder how many more things they have done.

It also seems to perform a little better on my system, along with the latest NVidia Drivers .. Probably subjective, and it's hard to tell now I have a decent enough laptop for this game.

I too just went to win 10 in January after a catastrophic hard drive failure. Win 10 feels very sluggish after win 7.
