I've played for a total of 2 mins and the game has crashed twice already. Other people seeing this? I won't bother trying again until there is a patch.

I see there are update-patches for taking you to 4.10_Fractal_100408 and 4.10_Fractal_100408a. Which are you using?

Anyone know what the differences are? I'm going through the changelogs on nomanssky.com, but so far would I'm finding looks looks suspiciously pretty and not-detailed.

When I restarted after the first crash I checked via GoG Galaxy whether there were any current required updates/patches available but it said I was up to date - I didn't take note of the vers number. At work now.....

I did play another ongoing NMS game for about 20 mins - that crashed once which is pretty unusual. I noticed some visual changes to some game elements - using transporters for example. Wasn't like that last night when I played.

No-one else had my Utopia experience then on a pc running windows 10? I'll try again tonight.

You're lucky. The game keeps crashing 2 seconds after my character loads on all saves and the new expedition crashed before I even saw my character. Tried Verify/repair, deleting shader cache, deleting TKGraphic file.

Edit: Oh yeah and I reinstalled the directx from the general troubleshooting instructions.

Also the update was a 12GB download. Did I just download a whole new version of the game?

I updated yesterday - 12.5 GB !! - and have had no problems as yet, no crashing.

I have never used mods or anything like that so my install is still 'vanilla' so to speak.

IMO game seems smoother than before the update, but that could be a dodgy impression as I haven't touched the game for over 6 months.

No mods on my set up either.

I played Utopia for about 20 mins when I got home and it crashed once but after having a meal and getting back to the game it's crashed every couple of minutes. Total game time so far 30mins and 7 crashes. Pretty much unplayable. I can't really pin point any particular activity that generates a crash - the graphics stutter a bit then freeze for a couple of seconds before the game closes. Given up for the evening - its much too frustrating.

I updated yesterday, and could not load any of my existing games or start a new one. Today I have downloaded the "Backup Installer" run the install and still cannot run existing games or start new ones. The start up sequence begins and the normal journey through the stars goes on for a few seconds then judders to a halt, freezes and the game exits.

I have never run any Mods, I am running Win 11.

-Win 10 22H2, Geforece GTX 1660Ti. 12.56 GB update plus a 69 MB "Verify/Repair" just in case.

Did have to update the Geforce driver from 516.94 to the current 528.49 in order to correct the widely reported issue with desaturated / low constrast display colors. First tried the suggested deleting of TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS, no joy. The newly creating TKGR... file was identical to the original with the exception of setting VignetteAndScanlines to true (the default) instead of false plus the addition of a couple of new entries. Updating the driver was what it took to get the display looking correct.

The version in the load screen shows 100408. Not sure what's up with the 100408a version in the GOG database. Perhaps the widget is set to only display digits?

ETA: Okay, there's more going on here. Pre-update I was running full screen + Ultra with no issues. In the experimenting above I ended up in borderless + High and that looks fine. However, flipping between borderless and fullscreen as well as flipping between High and Ultra brings back the desaturated colors. So for the moment I'm staying in borderless + High, as that seems to be the best option for the moment.

ETA^2: There's a Traveler Grave marker on the first Expedition planet at -39.46 -134.39. I didn't mark ti because there are already to $@#$ many markers on Expedition planets.

I was having this same problem after the update. Today I updated my Nvidia drivers to the latest 528.49 and now the game seems to be fine. So if you have an Nvidia card then updating the drivers will probably fix it.

I can't even play the expedition, it comes up as there is no expedition??, no idea whats going on.

Thats the strange thing, I have installed the fractal update, and it runs fine, but when I start go to the expedition screen there is no Utopia expedition, it just says there are no expeditions at this time??, I have no idea whats going on.

Are you running it with GOG Galaxy? That's pretty much required for all the online stuff...
