Absolutely breathtaking looking now! Here's the steps I took;

Install this Reshade;
https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/4xi1r0/pc_e3fx_reshade_graphics_mod/

Install the DOF fix, the game has a broken DOF filter;
https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyMods/comments/4y04pa/blur_filter_removal/?st=irxxwras&sh=f7b181c3

Install the Internal Resolution Fix (use 2x)
http://nomansskymods.com/mods/internal-resolution-multipliers-pak/

I cannot believe the developer released it in such a poor state where the game is easily fixed by a few additions/alterations to it. It look now looks like a proper, high resolution rendered game like the E3 videos we all saw. It's almost like it was heavily downscaled for the PS4 and left that way for the PC. Like the graphic settings in the game are a placebo. I will take some better shots at a better looking planet, but trust me the difference is epic.

Washed out, low resolution, improperly scaled trash of the vanilla game;

Screenshot doesn't even do justice to what this does to the game.

Wow!

I hope that when the game is fixed so it actually *starts* for me, I'll be able to apply such changes.

Your kidding right? You appear to have turned shadows on (it's a miracle)
Let the mods begin

After all these we need infinite save slots so we can fork saves and also save anytime. At least for SP offline people.

2X seems to require a pretty good CPU and GPU. I have multiple rigs, the lowest is a FX8320 8-Core CPU with a GTX970OC, that runs 2x and all of the above mods at a solid 30FPS. However I can drop it down to 1.25 and push it to 60FPS. My FX8370 with 980Ti can run 2x and all of the mods at 60-70FPS. I assume after the 'full' patch coming out and it's improvements I would be fine with the 970 systems and mods.

Some say 1.25x works great for them and offers a major graphical improvement, others like 1.5x for their systems. Robust rigs can roll with 2x. 2x is really like DSR on Nvidia cards, very pretty!
Love what modders can do for a game.

However, I`ll wait just a bit longer for all the patches and what not before changing stuff with mods. :)
It's great to see the work already from the modders in just a few days. I have high hopes for the future of this game with the modders working so hard already to bring fixes and features.

Y'know, Styggron and the Kraals should really be in this game... =-D
I installed all the mods except for the one that required a Nvidia GPU and the game doesn't look that much better. The ground textures don't look like vomit any more but they're still not that great.
I *highly* recommend trying the resolution multiplier mod. It makes the game look worlds better, at least for me (I tried the absolute resolution for my native 1920x1200).

Very little "modding" is required -- all you do is drop a single file (that can just as easily be deleted to revert) in the GAMEDATA\PCBANKS folder. It doesn't even replace an existing file, it's just a new file that you drop in. Restart, and bam -- huge difference.
You know what? When we got this crap pushed on MAG and Killzone 2, I didn't get it. A lot of us thought the game just looked bad, or that they were experimenting with dust effects or something. Seemed so bad and obviously bad that we didn't think to report it. But I think they intended to make people focus on closer objects. Same with the narrow FOV, that maybe they've intended for you to avoid changing focus as you play.

See, I never have had a problem with getting sick while playing games. Never knew anyone else who did either (other than that guy who got seizures). Why is temporal anti-aliasing such a huge thing for Sony when it's a post-filter and not a full graphics-context filter, for example? Makes no sense, right?

So when people at Sony started to complain about the games making them sick, one of them finally demonstrated how they played for me. Which was basically by tapping the thumbstick from zero to max really quickly over and over again, back and forth, until they could get the crosshair close enough to abuse the auto-aim. The higher sensitivity settings you could do this with, the better (supposedly). I don't know if everyone does that, but it seemed pretty common. Because they were "pro".

And then it sort of made sense, right? People without spasms like nervous insects might play games with analog controls very smoothly, to adjust gradually. You know, since there is a gradual turning off the axis here. If not, you could just as well have used a fight-stick, no? Or a keyboard. There'd be no point to the thumbsticks at all. Analog controls have no point. Etc.

So I thought it was strange at the time, but didn't think anything of it. Until later, when the controls in Killzone 2 was screwed over and replaced with something utterly boring. Which in retrospect favored that spastic playing style. A guy at GG confirmed for me as well where that "suggestion" for a fix came from. Or when the default controls for the air-brakes in Wipeout HD was changed to the bumper-buttons from the trigger-buttons for a short while. Then it was just annoying, and it was changed again, but why would they default to something like that, right? More on-off type animation... It's everything you /don't/ want if you wanted something immersive, rather than just a score counter generator that plings appealingly when you hit the buttons fast enough.

But that's how these guys at Sony play. On-off clicks and rapid, staccato turns everywhere. So obviously you'd get nauseous if you were staring at the crosshair dot with your eyes crossing while doing that.

So yeah, "believe it". This is absolutely brilliant. And I hope Musterbuster and the rest will take responsibility and commit seppuku in public one day. I'd pay to watch that, Sony. So that's basically the only way you'd ever see any of my money again.
man im sorry im not installing any tools what so ever it work like this ............. buy game install and play thats it no tools no shit on my pc clean pc clean game thats it and now i want update now im out off fuck points now
...on the other hand, they've apparently allowed resources inserted in the game-path override core files. So you can just slot the mod in, try it. Then delete the file and reload the game. And the override won't be loaded.

Since the people who programmed this don't work at Bioware, we are sadly not forced to deal with conflicts for every duplicated string, permanent script-insertions that break the game, or re-overrides from the dev that screw over your finished mod, I guess.

But hey, you can't have everything either. Oh, how fun it was trying to mod NWN2. So fond memories of that. Or the Sith Lords. Good old aurora engine. Love of my life. Really. Love the scripting language too. Absolutely awesome. Clearly programmed by someone who can hold a conversation in the cafeteria with another person without their brain shutting down. No doubt about that.
ohh i got a amd r9 380 4gb and i did try all the things still crash at $60 logo and now windows is a dam mess with all the tools i used im not reinstalling annymore
