My in-game name says explorer which is the default. I've looked everywhere in the options menu & I can't figure out where to change it. Help.

Did you download the game directly rather than use Galaxy? I'm using Galaxy and my name is set at "notepad" so at least in Galaxy it looks to be taking your account name. Maybe Explorer is the default when not using Galaxy and probably with Steam it uses your Steam account name. I agree it would be nice to change it, especially the Explorer one.

Yes I downloaded the game directly. Will try logging in via Galaxy. Thanks for your help.
any updates on this? how do I change the ingame name from "Explorer"?
I downloaded and installed it manually form GOG.com (not using Galaxy). However I did l did have Galaxy find it, and then I have run it from Galaxy and my name in game is justporter.

So it may have more to do with launching from Galaxy and less to do with how you installed it. Just my guess.

Just run the game from Galaxy

If Galaxy doesn't automatically see the game, just click the GOG icon at the top of the left column, and choose "Scan and Import Folders" from the dropdown.
You shouldn`t need GOG Galaxy to change your name, i want to be able to change my name without it.

Indeed. How is this DRM free?
I agree it's a basic feature that should be in the solo game too, but honestly why does it matter?

I'm guessing Hello Games calls it an "online feature" for the named discoveries. Which makes sense. Since no one else will ever see your name or any discoveries when you're offline, you are simply an "explorer".

Because it's a online connected game that uses your GOG account, just like almost all online connected games on Steam and a number of other services.

Well that hell does changing your name have to do with DRM. That is not DRM in any form whatsoever.

Oh come. Just because you can go online if you wish and stick on your name doesn`t mean it should only be possible to put something as simple as your NAME up when online. This should be available online or offline, and you bloody well know it!

I'm just telling you it's very common to do it this way, but granted Steam at-least allows you to change your display name for your account and GOG does not (as of now without contacting support). If you play offline (or without Galaxy) the name is really irrelavant, it's only used for online purposes... so I personally don't see the big deal in that circumstance.

Haha. funny and so hubristic. you`re so sure what`s relevent and not relevent to someone other than yourself.

In YOUR VIEW your name is irrelevent when playing offline, in mine, it is not.

Don`t try to tell me what`s relevent or not.

It's irrelvant to the game while offline, rather if it matters to you or not is another thing but did I design the game? Take it up with the developer. Of all the things to complain about... really. This is not an RPG.
